other way around. It has a recast of 5 secs when you turn it on but you can turn it on right after turning it off. If they just put the recast one both on/off it would solve the spamming problem.
Also don't put it in a DPS macro. You will end up standing there waiting for it to shut off since 1 cast will no be long enough for the recast. Not to mention you will end up getting ability delay due to the slight animation from putting it on so chain casting Stone would be slower since your switching it on and off each time.
Even the hotbar change macro can end up screwing up and then your screwed if you end up in clerics stance but your curing hotbar. I really wish they changed the icon when you had it on so you can tell from looking at your bar since I miss having it on at times.
The suggestion for macroing it twice also wouldn't work since you would end up turning it off and then back on if it was on already.
TLDR: there is no easy way to macro this and ensure that it will be off when you click a macro.
The easiest way to use Cleric Stance is to press your bind for it "while" you are casting something. Even if you hit cleric stance mid-cast it will activate once the cast is over.
Solution to stop it from automatically recasting? Stop spamming the button. Just hit it one time whenever you actually intend to use it.
Ex. Activate Cleric Stance ---> Start casting Stone II ----> ClericStance (when stone II is in mid cast) ----> Cleric Stance will turn itself off when the stone cast finishes. It will work 100% of the time. No macro needed. Practice it a few times to gwt used to the timing. You wont be dissatisfied.
