Hi guys! I am new to the markets. I have had my retainers for quite some time but I am finally taking some time to learn the system and making some money! (Ok I only make about 30,000 -50,000gil a day which I am sure is chump change to most of you)

I am getting addicted to the whole supply and demand process but I have a few (very n00b) questions:

1. What is a RMT? I keep seeing that thrown around on these forums.

2. Is it ethical to buy [Item A] from here [NPC] and sell it at a higher price than what you bought it for?

3. Any specific items that are ALWAYS in demand?

4. Does it matter which [city] market you sell in?

5. If you are on Coeurl server and you have been on another server, how would you say our economy compares overall?

6. Any other general tips? I am only level 40 so I cannot sell super rare end game stuff...yet.

forgot exact acronym think it is Real Money Trade(r). It's gil sellers, powerleveling messages for real cash

Ethic?...depends. I don't agree with scamming people but you can't hold the hand of everyone and it's not real life money. And sometimes people don't want to move to buy something from a vendor far away so it can be viewed as a service.

hahaha check the market, want steal business? Materia, food....

4. Does it matter which [city] market you sell in?
No (people that are in the actual city pay less taxes)

not applicable to me

6. Any other general tips? I am only level 40 so I cannot sell super rare end game stuff...yet.
Either farm rare material or gather or craft, but if you choose the latest hope you have time (you can do all 3) First of all get 50 unlock everything

1. RMT = Real Money Trading; i.e. spending real money in exchange for in-game currency (gil) or leveling.

2. Sure it's ethical. It probably won't sell though. Most of what you can buy from NPCs is low-level stuff and most people will check to see if they can buy from an NPC if they're looking for normal quality. High quality will always sell, but you can't buy it from NPCs.

3. Level 30+, high quality materials are always in demand. This is the point when most crafting classes get difficult without cross-class skills and people need to either put in the effort or start spending. Endgame materials (stuff you buy with myth tomes) are always in demand as well, once you have the myth to spare. Oh, and materia of course, but I, II, and III materia are not as big a draw as they were a month ago.

Edit: Myth is really easy to get now, so the materials you can buy with it will probably drop drastically in the next week or so. Hell, Tawny Latex has already dropped from 40k to 30k. They'll still sell for more than a lot of other materials, but I'd expect them to come out to the same as Potash, ~6k or so a piece.

2) It is fine to do so, not everyone knows what NPC sell the stuff they need so you help them out with a small profit on your side.

3) Glamour crystals, HQ darksteel ingots, rose gold ingot and hard hippogryth leather (this is what I earn the most gil from making)

---| Real Money Trade - Buying and selling of in-game goods for real-world money. It's frowned upon, banable, and very much cheating.

---| Not at all, if the market is going to pay the price, then that is the value of the item. Some people don't want to spend the time either going to the vendor or won't spend the time to find out where to get the material/item.

---| It fluctuates. I won't list specifics either.

---| In the grand scheme? Not at all.

---| Only been on Balmung

---| Crafting HQ items while leveling crafting can help bolster funds for future leveling.
