Incidentally, in order to unlock the ability to cast glamours on equipment you need to complete a quest from Mor Dhona which is only available at level 50 sadly: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/A_Self-improving_Man

However, once you've gained this ability you can use it at any level, even level 1 - you just require a class or Job at 50 in order to unlock it.
