    Here is a direct quote from the patch notes: (I see that Maluber also posted this information, but lets make it official.)

    Good luck to everyone desynthesizing, I know I need it! :P
    If it's working as intended, then the patch notes you quoted are incredibly misleading. We're not talking about exceeding the 300 point maximum. When I was at 90 points combined, I was occasionally losing 0.01 points of one skill when I raised another. Those patch notes say that the skill level of other classes will only go down in certain instances, and then it explains those instances by saying it will happen when you try to go above the 300 point limit.

    If it's intended that every skillup could result in a skilldown, the patch notes should have said:

    Successfully desynthesizing an item will raise your skill level for that class. However, this may also lower the skill level of other classes. In addition, if the skill level increase would bring your combined skill level over the 300 point maximum, the skill level of other classes will always be lowered to bring the combined skill level to the 300 point maximum.

    I dunno if anyone else asked or what not but, would be a possibility to provide an option to "Lock" one or two classes so that they are not affected when raising another class?

    This, please.

    Also, like Neri Feralhart said, this seems to happen whether or not we've reached cap. I thought, reading the patch notes, that I would only lose skill points if I went over the 300 cap. Now it seems like I can never get even close to that cap -- I can only desynth on one crafting job, forever and ever, because trying to desynth on a different one means I'll lose points on the one I have leveled up. That pretty much makes the 300 skill points cap irrelevant.

    The way it is written in no way implies that the instance listed encompasses all possible instances...

    I just don't like the fact that skill points are taken away. Why would the devs do that? I see no reason to, it's not like it will break the economy.

    True, but it only lists the one instance where we don't need an explanation.

    It would have been worded to say "However, this may randomly also lower the skill level of other classes, even if the 300 point maximum has not been reached"

    Yeah, good luck with keeping it that way. I'm sure once more people start investing in high level desynth skills, they'll get much more vocal about losing progress. When 0.01 could potentially cost a rare item or even tens of thousands of gil, losing that 0.01 "randomly" is just not acceptable.

    Edit: Oh, and thanks for the reply, by the way. You did answer my question.

    Completely inaccurate, implies that if you skill points are 300/300 it will decrease others, at the moment it decreases as long as you are de-synthesis on more than one class prior to the cap of 300. It is clearly is not working as intended.

    Just allow desynth for all classes with no reduction because the class/job system allows for people to change on the fly to play whatever they want, why start now with making people choose to narrow their choices. Isn't the main drawing point of this game is that anyone can delve into whatever they want.

    I don't like the wording on the notes either. I am only half way to 300, and I lose points. I hate that!

    I was ranting at my FC about this on the day of release. Losing skill when I was less than 30 total levels (nowhere near 300) was a nasty slap in the face. I can't imagine what it'll be like losing those skill points when I'm spending vanya and rose gold and whatnots on them ;.;

    Please devs, change the system to what it sounds like on the patch notes, that only when you're at the 300 cap does it juggle your skill levels.

    Extra points if they let US be the ones to choose which skill goes down <_<
