    I disagree the patch note say "in certain Instance" with a precision saying "if (...) combined skill level over the 300 point maximum", that's not saying randomly choose one craft (often the higher) and decrease the skill, even if it's only 0.01. Just make it you can only up one desynthesis skill and that's all. I get 0.01-0.02/desynth except with 60+ which give me like 0.04-0.06 with only 77% stuff I can only get in donjon if my lot is good (Ifrit only for Blacksmith...), I don't want to loose 0.01 when uping another skill... Just say you can only up one skill.

    Please ask dev to fix it or at least decrease the lower skill and not one randomly and get an official response from dev team (or is it already an official response from dev team ?).

    There is not level down for class / job in FFXIV but there is level down desynthesis... I hoped we were free of that since FFXI

    I wouldn't get to interested in this area and get all hyped up over, here is the rub, im a grandmaster of all crafts and I have chosen specifically gsm only at this time due to how they have made this version of it... its currently highly screwed up in the area of Fieldcraft III generation and mastercraft only being from artisan spectacles. One class here controls all others tools. GSM, don't do gsm so you can make field3 at around 150k per (provided dze tomatoes hq source 2kish and shards around 100ish) and get mastercraft? too bad... dunno what they will change it to but I would think they would be adding new desynth items across the board to actually be able to produce these needed components or greatly boost the % they are generated at per desynth and add master to other current 3 star desynths aka housing and vanity items for the other desynthing classes.

    I dunno if anyone else asked or what not but, would be a possibility to provide an option to "Lock" one or two classes so that they are not affected when raising another class?

    This, please.

    Also, like Neri Feralhart said, this seems to happen whether or not we've reached cap. I thought, reading the patch notes, that I would only lose skill points if I went over the 300 cap. Now it seems like I can never get even close to that cap -- I can only desynth on one crafting job, forever and ever, because trying to desynth on a different one means I'll lose points on the one I have leveled up. That pretty much makes the 300 skill points cap irrelevant.

    I just don't like the fact that skill points are taken away. Why would the devs do that? I see no reason to, it's not like it will break the economy.

    I don't like the wording on the notes either. I am only half way to 300, and I lose points. I hate that!

    I was ranting at my FC about this on the day of release. Losing skill when I was less than 30 total levels (nowhere near 300) was a nasty slap in the face. I can't imagine what it'll be like losing those skill points when I'm spending vanya and rose gold and whatnots on them ;.;

    Please devs, change the system to what it sounds like on the patch notes, that only when you're at the 300 cap does it juggle your skill levels.

    Extra points if they let US be the ones to choose which skill goes down <_<

    I can't help thinking that maybe there's been some sort of miscommunication/misunderstanding somewhere between players and mods or mods and devs, that what we're talking about is a different thing to what they're talking about. That Yoshi comment quote kinda cements that idea. I really don't think it's working as intended UNTIL you get to (or even near) the 300 cap...

    And can someone please move this thread to the right area? It's bugging me that the people this relates to the most won't see it unless they check the dev tracker... >_>

    ■ Ah, I figured as much (laugh). So, for item desynthesis, we know the combined maximum is 300 points, and once reaching the max, increasing the skill of one craft will lower the skill of another. Is it possible to, say, lock the skill level of a specific craft to allow you to adjust another?

    There's no deliberate locking system but.... I can only ask people try out different ideas.

    ■ Since it's possible to accidently desynthesize with a class you don't want to level and end up lowering something else...

    That won't be happening until you're at the 300 point cap, so for now you can feel free to raise what you like.
    So, this is definitely a bug that when experiencing skill points loss before 300 points.
