Materia won't happen, especially not Materia IV. At least not any time soon.
I don't mind the crafting drops, but it does suck when you only see one piece of actual gear drop because the rest is all crafting materials, which I think is what the OP's objecting to - the frequency of crafting mat drops. (Nevermind when you really want a specific piece of loot and all that keeps coming out of its chest is mineral water :/ )

No, and neither does the OP.
The problem is not the item level of the gear, but the crafting mats.
Personally I'd love to at least get some gear from the endboss. Defeating the final boss of a dungeon for a few bottles of filtered water is a bit demotivating.
Animal fat ,hard sap, and peacock ores are 3500-4100 each. The gear can be traded for 800+ seals each. You get 30 soldiers and 70 myth plus gil drops from each trash mob, the chest give gil and meds. I really like when hi elixirs fall into my inventory. There is plenty value on the dungeon loot. O don't mind the i80 gear either.
With all the Det/Crit/SSpeed on them, the i80 gear dropped in the new dungeons seems to be itemized to be BiS or nBiS for the i80 Frontlines and PvP.

I was planning last week to make a new thread about this but since this one is here I guess I will post here for now.
Basically having the crafting materials drop in chests are a huge problem, especially for new players, and messes with gear progression.
When a new player hits 50 they can go to the easier dungeons and work on replacing their AF gear with iLvl55-60. This process is relatively simple and allows them to gain access to higher level content since the gear acts as a supplement. They can gain access to CT and sub in lower level gear. Once the player starts hitting what was then expert dungeons the problem kicks in. In the previous dungeons there is about 1/9 to 2/9 chance that they can get a piece of gear they can actually use. Once you get into the dungeons that chance drops dramatically to as much as 1/18. Basically the rate at which new players can attain gear from the 4 man dungeons is extremely slow. This means that they have to skip straight from 60 to 90 gear. They would need to grind out a large amount of myth tomes to get anywhere to proceed to doing higher level content because medium tier items dropped too infrequently. It's actually faster to gear up in the First Coil than it is in medium tier dungeons.
The second problem with the crafting materials dropping is that they have widely varying values. Some are worth a lot and some are worth nothing at all. This means that you can enter a situation where you kill a boss and for all intents and purposes receive "nothing". It creates a feeling that you are wasting your time. When you receive an actual piece of gear it feels better, perhaps you can use it on an off class or turn it into seals to get something that you can specifically use.
RMT is a huge reason the system is set up the way it is but the way it is set up right now it punishes new players for no reason. I understand you can't place the items in chests randomly but they really don't need to be in the dungeon to begin with. If people are getting gear they can make the choice to trade in items for seals to buy the materials that they want.
I agree. I did the 3 new dungeons yesterday and only got 1 piece of gear in each one. The rest were Potash and Peacock Ore.
On Zodiark you can usually sell them between 11k-14k depending on undercutters vastly dropping the prices but I expected more gear to drop, especially from bosses. Could do with a few of the i80's for my alts since I'm 'trying' to save myth for Animus![]()
