I think your looking at HA weapons with face value alone just because HA has higher base damage and Auto-Attack doesn't make it better or the best in some situations you have to factor in how the secondary stats of Novus stack up over the course of the fight.

No secondaries ever outweight the gain of +2 Weapon Damage, Period. You gimp yourself and the LB output of your group by taking a lower weapon. Only reason for taking another than the highest weapon is, if HA weapon has no ACC and you're below cap then.
