While I agree with this wholeheartedly there are a couple of things I could add as a bard from my daily DF roulette.

Tanks please number targets it makes it so much easier. Less than 1/4 number.
Tanks please know your job. I've had many that never use flash on groups for example and the healer gets threat. I had one tank carry on fighting his lone target while the healer had three mobs on her in cutters cry.
Finally I know that a lot 50 bard in low dungeons has high threat regardless of scaling but really? When I'm only using heavy shot and waiting to start dps for ages - instant aggro?

Moral there are bad dps but there are also bad tanks. Don't just hate on dps.

Oh and I was only using heavy shot in the end as I was reducing my attacks to try not to keep getting aggro.

Um yeah there are bad tanks, but honestly there are waaaaaaaayyy more dps that aren't just bad( they refuse to even listen to the tank's requests of them). The fact of the matter is, dps usually have little to no responsibility other than damage. What I have seen with the average bard in a dungeon is that they disregard all input ( yeah even without marking, its pretty easy to distinguish what enemy the tank is attacking{it really is unless yr blind}). Most of the time tanks have to make up for the fact that the dps around them are just doing whatever the hell they want. Having to sacrifice doing damage to babysit idiots who don't know how to count gets kinda old....

If you find tanking stressful or annoying it's probably because you go in with this mindset.

No, I just don't think that its fair to have one person make up for the bad play of others. Added to this, the people who are pulling when they shouldn't, attacking out of order, and maintaining threat on a target that the rest of the party isn't focused on (ect.), then complain about how the tank isn't holding aggro or playing the way they want them to. People call out a tank as being bad before they disect their own play. I don't find tanking stressful, I find people who don't know how to play their role(then complaining that I don't know how to play mine) frustrating.

Those are just bad players. They play as all classes, there's nothing special about DPS. There are plenty of tanks who can't hold good aggro or don't understand DPS class mechanics enough to hold good aggro e.g. AoE damage builds up hate really fast so you need to Flash/Overpower more.

Saying that DPS classes have no responsibilities outside of dealing damage just promotes bad play. DPS classes have a lot of responsibilities and the flexibility to take on additional tasks as required. Refusing to acknowledge that just gives people the impression that they can run around like headless chickens and mash buttons because "who cares amirite?!"

Painting people with broad strokes just makes them hostile to honest feedback. I think that's the bigger issue here.

I brought attention to this reddit thread, because it showcased the impression of a main class Bard that was critiquing the play of irresponsible dps that he came across while leveling a gladiator for the first time. I have stated before that I realize there are bad (or just people unwilling to modify their play) players of all classes, yet what I was trying to highlight about this specific thread was that the OP never realized how annoying holding threat can be when the dps ignores the mechanics of play. Being a tank can be a thankless job at times and it feels as though we are the first ones to blame when things go wrong, and the last people to get praised for doing our job well. I've never meant this as a baseless attack on all dps, but rather as a point of view for them to consider as they play.

Let's be fair and honest, it doesn't matter what role it is, if someone isn't doing things right it can affect the whole group. It's usually easier to get away with mistakes as dps but we all have to work together to finish our mission. Be respectful and have fun ^^
