Then why does your leader keep everyone from buying a chamber ? Some of you are trustworthy I hope, create a "trial period" after which people can buy rooms.
Work it out together ^^
Apparently I may have jumped the gun a little then, as I was going by the patch notes and their ambiguous use of the word 'discharge'. If this is true I have no beef with SE :P.
Edit: Actually I just thought about it, and it still isn't right at all that an FC leader can remove your room and force you out of 300k all on a whim. I still think it's a bad system and should be linked to inn rooms, not FC housing, and that's still SE's fault.

It's got nothing to do with being a "jerk". SE has ALWAYS had this serious disconnect with what it takes to actually lead a successful guild - and this goes all the way back to linkshells in XI where you couldn't hand them over to a new leader (because SE was afraid the new leader wouldn't lead the same way as the old one - nevermind the fact that players could always LEAVE the linkshell if they didn't want to follow the new leader) and the person had to actually be online in order to kick them. If they were a sackholder, forget it if they wanted to troll you. They will just log on whenever they know the leader isn't on, kick the pearls, and log back off laughing. MAybe you could get a GM to intervene, but they were mostly just lazy and didn't care even if you DID get one. So leaders would just make everyone sacks, which meant there was NO officer control AT ALL except when the leader herself was online.
That kind of same thing is happening here. SE is "protecting" members from their leadership and tying leadership's hands when dealing with problematic members. I don't want a newcomer to join our FC, buy housing, and then turn around be an unkickable troll to the rest of the members who have been here since the start. And SE says this is the way it should be? Leaders should have no control over how their guilds are run? And anyone who wants to keep control over how the guild is run is a terrible leader? Nevermind that the leaders often put the MOST work, gil, and time into the running of the FC. I know that the leadership in my FC has.
Until SE does this right I don't blame any FC leadership whatsoever for requesting their members don't purchase housing. This is 100% on SE and too much administrative headache for leadership.
Can someone confirm if leaders, can remove your chambers?
I just read the notes and they specifically say
There's nothing in there about a leader being able to vacate your room and then kick you. I hope it's not the case, but it sure looks like our worst fears.- Vacating Private Chambers
Players must be on free company property in order to vacate their private chambers. Moreover, private chambers must be vacated in order to leave a free company.
* Gil used to purchase private chambers will not be refunded.
* All furnishings must be removed before vacating private chambers.
* As of patch 2.3, free company members who have purchased private chambers cannot be discharged from the free company. This will be addressed in a future update, so as private chambers will be vacated automatically upon discharging.
The most important lesson I've learned in life thus far is sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Be nike. Just do it.
My FC is asking people not to make chambers and we're not doing it to be jerks but because we've been saving up for a large house and don't want people to either stop us from giving up our current small house or for people to have to pay towards a chamber twice. We're quite a small FC that'd been growing in the last month or so, so it's taken us a lot of effort to get to the level that we're at currently and we just wish we had a little more protection against all that going to waste.
I agree with the OP they should of been linked to the INN and not the FC housing.
I can go along with this thought if this is the case, but a free company restricting members from buying a room for the sole purpose of controlling them. I say get the hell out of that free company. OP or anyone that's been in a free company for quite some time and is getting this flack. Than there's some big issues with that free company.
Well there's always the option of creating a rank that restricts house access to people they think might become a problem.
