I didn't raise Con/Thm to be a healer. Though, because of that, no one will invite me to the 50 raid instance because I refuse to be a healer. It's not fun to me.

I am really sorry to hear this. When I posted my initial reactions to the patch I hadn't even tried looking for party yet, but I predicted this would happen, and now that prediction is coming true. That is terrible!

This is terrible. The dev team is so obstinate about not using a test server right now, and this right here is 100% caused by not PTR'ing the test server thoroughly.

Two entirely different situations the way I see it. Form your own group and load it with 2 or even 3 other mages to heal, then you can DPS. However I'd be wary of grouping with any mage who absolutely refused to heal 100% of the time no matter what, just like in XI. I mean even BLM's were called on to heal in emergencies.

I'd also be wary to group with a melee DPS who refused to equip self cure/sacrifice or second wind to help with their own health.

In my own case, I am not a fan of being main heal. That is not the gameplay I enjoy. With that said it's within my gameplay to bail the party out of dire situations.. so I'm glad to back up heal.

I haven't been in the dungeon at all yet. I don't know very much what works well in a party to be honest. :C Poor leadership skillz, but I'd try with people I know if anything.

Back-up healing is one thing, but I am asked to be a main healer, so nothing else besides buffs/heal. In an extreme circumstance, maybe, MAYBE I'd main heal to help someone out. But if there's someone else that can do it, then I don't want to.

The problem is really the balance of how many healers are needed and how many people capable of healing are available. If you need all the healing you can get, then they're going to have to ask you to heal, because otherwise nobody gets to succeed. This was a big deal in vanilla WoW where in most guilds every hybrid class HAD to heal because there just wasn't enough to go around otherwise. I'm sorry that this is having the effect of pigeonholing people like you, but don't blame the playerbase for it. Everyone just wants to be able to succeed, and if they could succeed without you healing I think most people would be fine with you being a damage dealer.

lets hope 1.19 will fix the mess that 1.18 has made^^

You mean the mess that september 2010 had made? Its gonna take longer than that.

we had ultility, people cried now were getting more defined classes so your the healer now buddy and in the future it will most likely be more so

You're right if Conjurer was just a flat out healer, I would never have touch it. But because it had the Nukes, and beneficial abilities such as Spiritbind, and saw it more of a Black Mage I raised it. I also Raised Thaumaturge as well, but because of sacrifice it was also seen as a healer. So I am crap out of luck for now.

I know I have heals, but that isn't going to make me be a healer. If you have a conjurer and you want/need a healer then why don't you be one?

Don't worry the feeling is mutual. Had you actually READ what I had posted I'm advocating for three hybrid DoM jobs. I'm not stating that there isn't a hybrid healer/nuker. Obviously there is. In short. LRN2READ

There are other classes that are locked into a specific role also. I didnt level my MAR to R50 just to be the party default tank, I would like to be the highest melee damage dealer in the party, but because of high HP, hate skills, and the ability to regen HP from TP Im always the tank. Being a healer is just something mages will have to put up with until nuke classes are released for DoW.
