Can we please have a quest where an NPC will one-shot you and explicitly say something along the lines of, "Dead people do no damage"? I feel like the game doesn't do enough hand-holding for some people.

Sorry, I can't see the point in even having this.

Look! Fresh meat.
So you want a quest where you can't succeed and the game talks down to you like a stuck up player. Sounds legit.
Ooo another bash the dps thread how new and different. I have recently had some of the worst tanks ever but do you see me starting a bash tank thread? No. I accept there are bad players in all classes as well as some excellent players so...
lol. Could it be that OP is a tank that can't keep hate on more than 1 mob?
This actually amuses me. On the face of things, you may think I'm anti-DPS for saying such a thing. I main BLM. I'd like to see this as a self-deprecating parody of SE believing the Echo actually helps on fights like Titan EX and Twintania which have instant death mechanics. It would be amusing, actually. There have always been fights in single player RPGs where you are intended to lose. Make a quest where we are given the Ultimate Offensive Weapon of Doom, only to be disabled or otherwise incapacitated before it can be used. If SE makes it clear in the quest that they are parodying themselves, it would be golden. Fern, bro, you listening?
Echo does help though, once you know the mechanics. Probably wouldn't have got my first Titan EX kill without the Echo actually. Several party members down at the end yet we were able to down him without failing. The 10% DPS boost made sure we got across the line sooner.
Same deal with any fight really, Echo helps immensely once you know the mechanics.
Ida know what OP is trying to state, but as a SCH, my DPS become dead DPS when they repeatedly stand in bad stuff, eat every attack the boss dishes out (especially the avoidable ones), don't listen to people trying to explain fight to them, pulling for the tank, running away from AoE heals when fight mechanics aren't targeting them, not attacking what tank is targeting.
That's when my DPS become dead DPS, because I will not waste more mana keeping a MNK alive than my tank.
From other people's point of view, I look like a monster. I'm a stupid woman who imagines she can create a happy life by piling up her sins
I play a bard (not the most loved dps) and try my hardest to do my best. I wait for tank to get aggro, I never pull for them, if they use provoke to pull I wait to attack until I see damage being done by the tank, if I use my buffs on bosses near the start, I use quelling strikes as well.. If I start to get aggro from a mob I pop quelling strikes and stop attacking. I run out of anything on the ground, but here's the thing... latency. Sometimes I have no problem, but occasional aoes I just can't get out of. Titan's weight of the land for example. But for Titan it's not so bad as I learn when they come in his rotation and begin running early and that seems to work. But on some dungeon bosses it's impossible not to get damaged by an AOE.
continued because of post limit - Helicanarssis (sp) in Haukke hard for example I can usually get out of her void fire, but the really large one she does I only make it 50% of the time even if I run the instant it's cast. Does that make me a bad DPS? I guess on the face of it to other players yes, which is why I decided I won't be doing anything beyond hard mode dungeons because I don't want to bring the team down with my latency issues. But for what it's worth to anyone who gets in my groups - yes I'm running out of AOEs.
