Especially since it's not doable by a bot...
Then again..
every post in this thread is wasted space/bandwidth. as nothing will happen, even my post is useless!
Making useless post in pointless thread!
We all know bots are a problem. However, the bot witch hunt is getting severely out of hand and people need to STFU and mind their own business. I for one am getting extremely tired of having people standing on me while I'm crafting and spamming tells to me to see if I'm a bot simply because I spent a large portion of my time crafting.
Friggin report the suspected bot to the proper channels and stop harassing people in game. Also stop posting about it in the forum. It is old news.
Nah, that's something I don't agree to.Friggin report the suspected bot to the proper channels and stop harassing people in game. Also stop posting about it in the forum. It is old news.
If a post sticks out in the forums long enough, it will eventually get noticed.
And we all know that reporting (presumable) bots in-game will not.
Because SE doesn't already know there are bots in the game?
I've personally seen several groups of bots disappear from my server. The reported bots are getting removed so I don't agree with you that we all know reports don't get noticed.
Oh wow! Now that's good news. I actually held the impression they do nothing at all.I've personally seen several groups of bots disappear from my server. The reported bots are getting removed so I don't agree with you that we all know reports don't get noticed.
It's good to see something is done after all. Then they should make an announcement about it.
I always loved it in FFXI when the leaders of major Linkshells that had been around for several years suddenly disappeared right after one of the big banning waves.
Ah, yes, the great RMT purge of 2006. One could literally feel the great disturbance in The Force. As if billions of gil suddenly cried out in agony before fading into the great beyond.![]()

I haven't seen the same group of bots more than twice actually, so they do seem to disappear.
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Okay, so bots do exist. They can be a problem.
But here's the thing: they are banned at different points, especially the shard bots. How do I know?? Shard prices. You'll see most shards down in the 100-120g range, then suddenly the supply is low, and all shards shoot up to ~200g each. There seems to be a cycle, where the shard bots are banned, then they come back and do it again. So buy shards when the shard bots are in town, and sell when they get banned.
I saw literally THREE shard bots in the crystalier's ward the other day. Like obvious, Flkjsfdds Fljafdjsa bots, with their corresponding Fdkjfdsa Fdasfjsdk retainer standing only feet away, filled with 999 shard stacks. It's pretty obvious. But I'm sure as more people report them, GMs take action, and they are banned. Even after getting banned, I'm sure they buy more accounts (which are like 15 bucks anyways) and do it all over again.
I guess the real problem would be actual players who bot, and get an unfair advantage over others. These are harder to spot.
