I've always been doing top tier dps on my BLm without the buff. Now, I'm just wrecking. ./thanks to make me op.
If only Aikaal were to be able to use simple logic. Good Black Mages benefit the most out of this because those who master the BLM class were falling behind about 30DPS to DRG and SMN and 40-50 to MNK. Now we get that boost and we should be on top with them. This is of course if people master their class equally well. No offence, but if you are doing the equal DPS of DRG, MNK or SMN on a single target, then those DPS are not doing their jobs. I too did great DPS, but it was defenitely not the number worthy of me mastering my own class. You being on top with the DPS from your group is no proof whatsoever that a buff was not needed.

It really has not affected 3x flares much at all.
And i was already doing more ST damage then some dragoons but we did still need a buff.
Besides did melee not get a buff already sometime ago?
We are not "too powerful" at all so cool your jets some of you, lol
That's because flare wasn't changed in any way....
I have noticed a difference, however. I was smoking single target in stone vigil hard, far and above our paired dragoon of equal ilvl. Everyone seems to be forgetting that the potential of a job is only meaningful if it can be executed. I'd take a good BRD over a shitty MNK every day.
And any reasonably geared DPS in endgame can meet all checks. If the person can meet the checks and stay alive/dodge aoe, then it really doesn't matter what they are playing.

Oh i know flare was not affected, sorta just replying to those that used transpose>flare as tick is a factor
i have noticed buff right away when i started yesterday, sure was nice
Not saying i can out dps st damage against every dragoon as i have seen some impressive ones.
Just meaning many do not optimize their rotations perhaps?
This was more of a reply towards Vivi about us being behind dragoon in damage.
I played my BLM last night in Tamtara HM and I didn't particularly feel like I was suddenly burning things faster than before??
Maybe I'm just not good at being a BLM but I always felt like when I go as a summoner things just MELT before my eyes.
For those who claim to be OOP BLMs and have like 400 dps or whatever, can you please share your rotation? (and your ilvl?)
spell speed was not changed, just the potency of Fire so still takes just as long to cast.
Brayflox hm i have always used and started off with Ice 3 as too often i peel agro off tanks even with quelling strikes.
So it was Ice 3> Fire 3> Fire 2 Fire 2> Fire 2> Flare>Swiftcast Convert> Flare> Mega Potion >Flare
The odd time if trash still survived ( we pull every enemy up to first boss) then instead of convert> flare i would transpose flare firstly
Summoners are great but come nowhere near aoe damage of blm's
Many threads are out there with actual dps numbers and such
It wasn't a giant buff, in dungeons you're probably (or should be) using aoe for trash which was slightly nerfed because of the flare change, and single target for bosses, at ilevel 109, novus weapon, I'm hitting for approximately 90~ more damage per fire cast, which is very noticeable, dungeons probably aren't the best thing to feel the difference as the fights are new (presuming new dungeons) and the fights are generally rather short, we ran second coil last night as we don't feel ready for savage, and the difference there, especially in Turn 8 and Turn 9 was the very very noticeable, allowing us to do a few things we were close to before but not quite there, skipping 5th tower set/dreadnaught without Melee LB, even with a pretty disappointing performance from myself I managed to hit 435 DPS, and in turn 9 we managed to skip the 2nd dragon at long last thanks to the slight boost.

Thank I'm only ilvl96 but I always feel like my DPS is so terrible. I don't know the numbers but when I switched to summoner (before patch) in T6, it was such a huge damage difference (like difference between super slug dying & not dying) that I felt really disappointed. I think I'll try BLM in T6 tonight to see if there's really a big difference. Maybe I'm just a better summoner.
