Hi, with renewed hope for 1.18 I feel I need help to get back on my feet again.

    Hi,

I was one of those who quitted until the game became "better".

For me... its still "not good" but somehow I can feel that its getting towards the right direction. Hopefully 1.19 is going to confirm my hopes.

Well with that said.. tbh I dont remember how to play the game or what the hell I was trying to do with my character... and with so many changes no idea what to do here... So I was hoping for some help here

My ranks are Alchemist 25, Thaumaturgy 18, Marauder 11, and Shield 16. Physical 28.

    So well.....

Is it worth for me to continue ranking "thaumaturgy"?
Should I just switch to Marauder?

Any easy easy easy class to level all the way to 50?

I dont remember... but ranking alchemy required any special stat? (like str, dex, vit)

    Any tips?

Btw.. basically im playing solo now... three of the LS which I was part of... they are dead.... so im alone LOL so basically im looking for a class which allows me to play alone, while being also helpfull in a party (just in case)...

    Ty so much

PD: what happend with YG?? it seems outdated... anyone knows a good FFXIV database with the 1.18 update?

If any ls wants to adopt me im in Fabul

Just start over with a new character. Crafting sucks right now so you won't be missing your Alchemist. It's not that hard to get to rank 20. Ask around for LS invites, someone will invite you eventually. As for stat info and whatnot, there are a lot of resources online. Google is your friend.

10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!

I'm glad that things are on the up and up for you. I am sorry to hear about your linkshells. If I were in your shoes i would try to find a nice social linkshell, one that you don't have to be too invested into; they come quite in handy and make game seem less of a grind.

As for which job to pick, I would suggest you rank up which ever job you enjoy the most that way it won't seem so boring in the long run.

Thx Miqo for ur reply Im also hoping for the swimwear to be released!

Mmm tbh I dont want to start a new character specially because ahm well theres nothing really "wrong" with mine :P after all I can just reset the stat points LOL. I love crafting but I want something more combat related for fighting...I tried already to use google and some webpages I used to know (like YG) but the majority seems to be outdated and they dont have the 1.18 patch information (like new items and how to get them). I was hoping someone here can share some good webpage

    Ty for ur reply

Tbh I would crafting (if it get simplified..) but somehow alchemy is fine with me... unfortunatly higher levels require me to depend on other stuff like gathering, cooking, etc etc. And even though I love the idea of this "network of crafting and gathering" and "real life sensation" somehow it seems a little bit too much for me. As far as I know (or at least hope) all of these is getting simplified. Also I tried to continue my alchemy but some recipes are off, or have the wrong list of ingredients (at least in Yellow gremlin database).

Thats why I hope to find a new job to entertain myself, but tbh all I want ot get to level 50 O3O! thats why I was hoping that someone, by experience could tell me if theres like an "easier job" to "solo grind". Since my favorite job was thaumaturge (and I still love it) but the mana cost is killing the "solo" aspect (at least for me). Also I felt the necesity of somethign more combat related

I wont say its the "radical" change I was hoping for, or the miracle patch that some people were expecting... but somehow I can see how these new changes can greatly improve the game.

The game may still be "unpolished" I wont argue that... but for me at least 1.18 gave me hope that the game may be good in a future.. I mean you are here in the forum.. with lnc rank 50... that means that if u didnt liked the game or the patch at least u got hope for the game.

I don't think it would be to tough to get back in the groove of things. Some things you could do is look over your journal of past quest to see what you got done to have an idea of where you are in the story. Since your jobs aren't to high it looks like you only did 1 class quest if you did the main quest.

As for combat I think it flows better and a quick tip if you play with basic control on a compact keyboard.

    -Press "F" to draw weapon
-Use tab to target or mouse
-Press enter to bring up action bar which will show "target" next to mob name signifying that you are in auto-battle
all abilities have recast timers now and as noted tweaks have been made to MP consumption. It's best if you play the classes you had been leveling before you decide if you want to try something different or still enjoy the class.
-That's about it with combat, don't forget to set abilities, it's easier to chat during battle and it is pretty active since there are a wide range of abilities to use.

    ---
In terms of other content to think about, I'm not sure when you quite but lots of quest which are easily noticeable can be done for some gil and skill gains for the class you turn it in on.
I played with crafting today though I think it's a little rash to say that crafting sucks, people who haven't leveled crafting or decide not to will kick themselves when materia is released. If you enjoyed leveling crafting you should continue with Alchemy. From what I noticed with crafting in terms of leves, it's a lot easier to have opportunities at gaining skills since it now gives you level ranks to choose from rather then a list or random leves that may offer or may not offer Guild Marks. However upon looking at leve it still doesn't tell you if you'll get GM or not.

Keep this in mind with crafting:
"Levequests yielding guild marks will be limited to city-states hosting the corresponding guild only. For example, Blacksmiths' Guild marks can only be earned in Limsa Lominsa, while Conjurers' Guild marks will be exclusive to Gridania. Guild marks earned when meeting class recommendations will be yielded at a higher rate." Alchemy is in ulda? I think. But basically if you wanted GM for alchemy you have to do leves in the nation that holds their guild.

As noted with all leves they give skill upon completion with crafting it's pretty much a 1.2k boost upon turning it in, though I would say the leves may use is to obtain GM.

When it comes to crafting if you find certain synths to be hard see if it requires a book, while it is a pain that certain synths that are above your level are tough to complete because they need a book, just keep trying and you'll be able to earn enough to gain all the books.

As a last recommendation, I would say to get all your crafts to 10 at least so you can obtain the skill from that class. The skills are a nice variable to tag onto you class when crafting and can make a big difference between failing or succeeding in a synth.
    ---------

Other then that, as a final tip of sorts, when playing don't think of what's the quickest route to 50, instead consider how do I want to have fun today. I feel that people who are unhappy with this patch think to much of reaching endgame and neglect the journey to 50. While I'm sure my path to 50 is slow, I"m enjoying the journey of completing quest, diving into botanist a tad, crafting a tad and marauder. While I prolly have completed all the quest possible for 29 Mar, I'm looking forward to reaching the next rank so I can do the next class quest.

I have an obscene amount of GM saved up for marauder since I wanted to make sure I could gain all those abilities. WIth the recent changes to GM distribution I might look into a class in grida and ulda lol. Overall though just think about how you want to have fun and what you want to enjoy. I'm sure if people thought more of the manner of having fun they wouldn't be as bothered by lowered SP gains or the fact it might take longer to get to 50 now.

I can answer some of your questions.

Conjurer = main healer now instead of THM. They can do everything including aoe but their range is shorter.
Tham = nerfed big time but got boost in dps on banish and scourge. Best enfeeblers still but no more aoe heals.
Archer = still best dps... People crying about archer getting nerfed in 1.18 don't know how to play their class effectively.

You definitely want to optimize your class by complimenting it with another though. For example leveling up a lancer will compliment all melee classes especially archer. Mage classes will compliment Mage classes. Players who only rank up one class don't get the full benefits from their class and technically are kind of gimped.

It's late so those are the tips I'll give you for now if and when you come back. Good luck!

As a 50 ALC...I say if you like THM, stick with it to 50, its stats supposedly helps in ALC. I went with ARC in the end though because that's my preferred style of combat.
