DPS TP usage and bard's Army's paeon

Just start playing bard recently and wonder. How fast does physical DPSes burn their TP? Or to be percise when should I start Army's paeon? We can see how low the party's MP are but not TP anyway.

And how do you do silence rotation? When i do coil as other job I cannot notice any sign to trigger the silencing yet they do silencing stuff quit well when there are bard and paladin in the group.

You won't have to play Army's Paeon very often. Most fights melee can manage with proper Invigorate usage, but in the fights or instances where it is needed they should just call for it. There's not really some cue that you should just know. So if they burn their TP and don't speak up it's their fault, haha.

As for the silencing, if a silence rotation is needed usually the people involved work out the order ahead of time. Like PLD takes first then BRD, etc. Other than that it's mainly just timing and the enemies own move rotation (if they have much of one) that will tell you when it's coming up.

Most fights dont require Peon. Only fights like T8 where they are constantly doing DPS with little/no breaks require Peon.

95% of the fights in this game can be managed using Invigorate

Paeon is 30 TP/tick (3 seconds), 60 if Battle Voice'd (but only for other people; for the singer it is still only 30/tick). In-combat TP regen is 60/tick by default so this becomes 90 TP for regular Paeon and 120 for BV.

Turn 1 (sometimes, if DPS is especially slow), Turn 4 (TP-heavy AoE), Turn 5 (sometimes), and Turn 8 are the only raid fights you might be called upon to do Paeon due to fight length. Dungeons it varies; regular combos/rotations for TP-consuming jobs don't typically eat that much TP. But when you start to use AoE (130-160 TP, 2 or 3x the amount of any regular GCD) it can start to take a toll. DoTs like BRD's VB/WB, DRG's Phlebotomize, and MNK's Touch of Death are typically also more TP/GCD (but stronger), and when spreading to multiple targets that's another slight TP burn.

In short, usually people will ask if they need it. If you're using only yourself as a gauge, around 400-500 TP or less remaining with Invigorate down.

MNK and DRG doing a straight up single target burn run out of TP in around 4 minutes 20 seconds depending on skill speed.

That generally depends on AoE pulls/how effective they can use Invigorate.

The only time I've ever had to play paeon is during Brayflox speed runs and on T8 while the 2nd Dread tower is charging up.

The only fight I have to really play Paeon on is T8. I always play it right when the first landmines come out and then again after that every time I get back to 1k Mana.

These guys are pretty spot on however no one mentioned the fact that if a tp using dps dies... they will need peon unless they already have invigorate ready. As these guys said though with proper rotations even in turn 8 you should need peon very little, for a minute tops all together or not at all in a good team. Also make sure you turn songs off when your barrage/cooldowns are up. Consider making them wait 10-20 second when they ask for to so you can burn your CDs first before you sing.

There are 3 instances where you use Peon:

    1) Turn 8. People tend to be more vocal here so they will usually tell you when they need peon, especially if you guys are using a voice program. This is made easier by the fact that you should be needing TP around the same time they do.

    2) Extremely heavy aoe situations, like Speed Runs. It is a pain to tell every bard every time you do a Brayflox so this is where the distinction between a good bard/bad bard comes in. They burn TP much faster than T8 so you can't just be using your own TP as an indicator.

    3) If the melee dies.

Another point is that Skill Speed makes VERY LITTLE difference in how they will burn their TP. Regardless of their Skill Speed, the 3 situations above remain the same.
