    Denomination, what do you think?

This might be late to ask about since we already playing ARR for almost a year. And for a quick back story, everything in 1.0 including money in player possessions has been denominated by 1/10, meaning amount of 5 million gils a player have in 1.0 will become 500k gils and npc price of 1000 gil in 1.0 became 100 gil.

But recent market play has given me this thought:
Do you have the mindset of original 1.0 value or current? Or simply, before denomination or after?

I'm no market or economic-savvy, but when everytime I check market price, I always convert them into pre-denomination value. That means a price of 50k will be 500k in my mind. That's one way for me to decide if that sale have decent price or expensive.

Another example I take from recent discussion about undercutting of vanya stuff, a 50k value are 500k to me which I still consider expensive stuff, even though these sells around millions back in 1.0 (which converts to hundred ks in ARR).

So, what's your opinion? Can I still have this mindset or I need to view from other perspective judgement? Again, I'm not really keen in market plays.

That's a mental mechanism for trying to make sense of a value after getting used to a certain value in 1.0. I did that for quite a while myself.

After a while I just got used to ARR's values, so i don't do that anymore.

Besides, it quickly became evident that nothing was quite worth exactly the same as it was in 1.0. From materia, to crafted gear, etc. When the crafting system, materia system, gathering system and loot system changed along with the introduction of ilvs and such, the value of basically anything in the game changed.

I still remember the massive outcry on the forums of people saying they were having their gil stolen, etc when SE announced the redenomination. I tried talking sense into so many people back then but many simply didn't get the notion that the redenomination wasn't really taking anything from them, and that in the madness to find new values after all the core systems changed, it ultimately wouldn't matter.

Wonder where they are now lol...

I started a new character on a new server to play with friends just starting with ARR (haven't even logged into my 1.0 character) so the new economy easily overwrote whatever expectations I might have had from 1.0. You must have played 1.0 a lot, because it shouldn't take very long for the new economy to feel normal and require no mental exchange rate.

    Haha

When the denomination was announced way back then, for some reason I don't really have anything to go against it. It's just information I use to keep my price judgement until now. Whatever value in ARR has, I always convert it to 1.0 version, especially if I'm looking on market values of 100k and above.

I do aware the effect of supply and demand when every time new stuff or system introduced, and how it affect to old stuff. I just thought keeping this aspect to myself helps me control how I deal with markets. And yes, I agree to what you say, a mental mechanism for making sense of values.

I'm just wondering about effects for the reason & cause itself. :?
