PC Controller Problem - Random Unresponsiveness Lasting 10 sec up to 2+ minutes

First time posting a bug here... I'll try my best to describe the problem.

Before saying anything, this only happens when playing FFXIV, which is why I put it in the in-game bugs section. If it shouldn't be here I apologize in advance.

This happened with an old wireless controller, and assuming it was simply a wireless problem, I went out and purchased a brand new controller that was wired assuming that would fix everything and my problems would be over with.

    That wasn't the case obviously.

I have yet to recreate this problem outside of the game, and I've tried for a few days for a few hours each day. I downloaded a gamepad monitoring tool that shows a flow graph of when I hit a button and for how long (to see if my controller or USB plug hiccups and there was a noticeable delay that might be giving the game some issue). I recreated the issue 10 times in the game over 4 hours and there was never a moment where input was blank while hitting the buttons, so the program picked it up while the game did not.

To reestablish what I said in the title, when it stops responding to my commands it will stay unresponsive, while spamming the button I hit last or moving in the direction I went last, for 10 sec up to 2 minutes or more. As you can imagine, when trying to do Turn 9 this becomes a major issue when I can't stop running and I have to run in circles while the boss tries to destroy us.

So picking up a new controller didn't fix the issue, wasted money but at least I know it wasn't the controller. However, my problem still exists. If I need to give any information about the hardware I'm using I'll gladly do so.

I'll probably try reinstalling the game tonight after we're done practicing coil. I have restarted my computer obviously, so that's the only troubleshooting thing I can think of to do. If any of the players here or even the staff can offer recommendations on how to fix this issue or something that may be worth trying to see if it has any effect I'll gladly try it.

    Thank you for any assistance.

I have noticed this issue since the 2.28 patch, I thought it was controller or USB cable, and have replaced both and still am having the issue.

In particular I am using a Dual Shock 4 over USB (not even wireless) with the controller mapping that allows it to function in game.

Many times it shows up after selecting a menu option or backing out of a menu, but I've also had it happen in-combat, very similar to the old auto-run bug.

I posted this as a bug, instead of just a Technical support issue, it was moved to Accepted, and then to Not a Bug

Hopefully, if more people see this issue and report it, someone on the dev team will be able to reproduce it and fix it, or roll back the change in 2.28 that caused this to start happening
