    Question about Fishing spots.

    Hi,

I'm currently trying to get all jobs to 20, and I've come up to fishing. I'm currently level 10. I tried fishing in a remote spot in Thanalan, and it was nice, but then the fishing hole like.. disapeered. like it was all fished out or something. It was grade 2.

So I went to the docks in limsa, a grade 1 fishing place, and it NEVER runs out, but the exp is lower.

My question is this: As I get higher in level, will fishing be more like botany and mining, where I ahve to run from fishing hole to fishing hole? Are there perm fishing spots where I can fish at.. That's > Grade 1

    Thanks,

    Alexis

They're not like mining or botany. You can always fish in a certain location as long as you have enough baits/lures. Although gathering fatigue will be an issue if you fish too much within short time.

The reason your fishing "hole" disappeared is because that was actually a spearfishing point (where you used off-hand tool), rather than a fishing pool (where you should use main-hand tool).

I suggest you go to Grade 2/3/4/5/6 fishing pools at Rank 3/13/23/33/43 (assuming you have good gear) if you want both SP and fish; or you can simply find a safe Grade 10 spot fishing since R1 till R50 if SP is your only concern.

For where you can find Grade 2-10 fishing pools, please check http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/Maps.aspx

If you're more interested in rapid SP gains over accruing gil, it may be in your best interest to go straight for a grade 10 node. Find the preferable bait for whichever area you choose and enjoy the SP. You should receive about 300 SP per caught fish from the same water source all the way from rank 1 through 50. Of course this is hardly an adventurous experience which is why SE has confirmed they plan to remove grade 6 nodes and above, possibly as early as the upcoming patch on the 21st. You may want to make use of it while can.

Interesting. I'll do some fishing tonight if I can find a grade 10 area.. Do you think this would be nice also since if I castch less fish for low sp, I wont fatigue as fast?

Yes, exactly. The spot you're looking for is south of bald knoll, isle of umbra. You'll pass through a cave and some high ranking snippers (75 or so), but they are slow.. so keep running right past em and you'll be fine.

To catch a fish, it has to bite your bait.

When something bites, you can then catch it, or lose it. If you catch it you get X amount of SP, and if it gets away you get half that.

So at a grade 10 spot, you'll get 300 SP for catching, or 150 SP for getting a bite and losing it.

If nothing bites, or if you lose the fish before you get a chance to jig, you get no SP.
