From patch notes.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that in order to not loose durability you can't be soloing?A further penalty will apply to equipment durability for players who revive themselves via the Return command.

I am not bothered, because I can solo and not die.
Plus it keeps crafters relevant. NM/Boss drops are already better than most of what crafters can craft, why do you want to take repairs away from them, too?
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh

Well no, but at least let us repair everything at the repair NPC's and stick a few more in each starter city and maybe one at the settlements. It would also help suck some gil out of the economy when people are putting it into repairs from an NPC.
No, because, again, I'm coming from a game where any non-PVP death meant a 10% durability loss and a corpse run. If you couldn't make the corpse run for whatever reason, you lost another 25(?)% and had 10 minutes of weakness.
The penalty itself in XIV is mild by cmparison; I'd just like to see a more user-friendly repair system.
