BLM Using Ether Pots for Flare Spam in Brayflox Cost Efficient?

I recently got booted from a Brayflox speed run party because I wasn't using ether pots so I could spam a 4th flare in my casting progression. Our group had another BLM and we were doing the speed runs in about five and a half minutes each. The other BLM was skipping the Fire 2 AOE and going right into flare spamming after Fire 3. By the time we both had cast our 3rd flare the mobs were gone. With the cost of pots, I'm not sure using them for a 4th flare is cost efficient unless your other DPS isn't carrying his/her load. Any thoughts?

I stock ethers for this on BLM, and the cost is negligible. Of course, the ether cooldown prevents you from spamming this trick, anyway.

Well they are very cheap if you have a Gourmet levelled up. The material you need for it can be farmed quite easily (no unspoiled nodes included). But I have another problem with 4x Flare. It may look nice but I can't get 4 of them through without loosing my Fire III stack and that's a no go for me. If I have to move (AOE), also raging strikes doesn't last for 4 Flares. You lose time when you use Flare so at least the Damage you make should make for the time loss. But not without the Fire stacks and most probably without raging strikes. Besides that ALL enemies should be down if 2 BLM's cast it three times anyways. Getting the boot for 3 flares instead of 4 is just LOL, on a side note.

Mega-Ether's are cheap as hell to make yourself; mistletow, distilled water, mugwort, 6 lightning and water shards. I usually HQ them then just buy the cheaper NQ to make a profit overall. However, the NQ give 270mp and I only need 266 to use Flare. FC friend said Hi-Elixir's are cheaper on market, though, if you can't make your own.

Using potions is cost efficient, but not for casting 4 flares in a row (the one that booted you is a clueless newbie).
I haven't checked in a while, but I think you have enough mana to cast fire 1 or fire 2 before flare after using convert. That's how you can keep your stacks.

you can transpose > fire2 > flare

i lot the voidblood and make x-ethers with them, 2 for 1 while speed running bray lol

Thanks, all, for the input. I haven't really got into any of the crafting and gathering skills...so I buy pots on the market place. The group that kicked me were three Japanese players looking to beat some mythical time record of under 5 minutes for a Brayflox speed run. When they said 5 and 1/2 minutes was too slow, I told them they had to get Brayflox Alltalks to run faster. That's when they kicked me...lol. IMO, most of the lost time is in taking down the 2 bosses. I did notice the same group looking for other DPS again and again in Party Finder during the next hour. BTW, I have no issues with Japanese players...it's just who was in the group.

if they were looking to break a speed record, they should have put that in party finder. I use HQ mega ethers because I gather, and craft, and always have the mats. But it hardly makes or breaks a speed run by any margin.
