    And this was a good concept. One Aetheryte per zone is definitely enough.
    Main aetheryte -> aetherythe gate.

    As example you teleported from somewhere to camp horizon, clicked there on the aetheryte and teleported to the aetherial gate at Nophica's Wells.
    They worked like the city teleporter. Each aetheryte outside in the open world had its own atheryte gate network.
    The cost was 1 Anima

    No one is forcing you to use them. If you refuse to explore unless it's your only choice how entertained by it can you be? Certainly not enough to justify adding filler time to everyone else's game making them go through maps they've already been through/have no interest in.

    So don't use them. Nothing is stopping you from walking everywhere if thats what you want to do. I personally like the convenience of aetherytes as I don't have infinite time to play. If whatever I had to do next required me walking for 20 minutes i'd just turn the game off and do something else more fun with my free time.

    Maybe those can come back (as a player skill that allows a checkpoint)?

    Anyway seeing as I mainly use Aethyrites for travel, I'm against the idea of their removal

    Hm, so if you remove the aetherytes then getting from a residential area to Mor Dhona would take how long?

    OP maybe you might like the Elder Scrolls series better than this.

    I'm not suggesting that they remove them entirely, just a few so that we actually have to travel a bit. It's not a huge problem, just think that it would be more immersive. With the way the world is now, there really is no need for mounts

    Don't use them and you can travel via foot or mount as much as you want to Wanting to remove them is forcing a playstyle on everyone. They are there to be used or not used depending on what you want to do.

    I would rather get bigger maps, and also remove the borders. I always feel like I need to follow a path and can't really explore beyond that. I want to climb big rocks, not walk around them. Stuff like that!

    You can't just "make the map bigger" You need content to fill it. Otherwise it's a empty barren wasteland that screams laziness.

    There's a balance that I don't think is ever properly met.
    I honestly hate maps where an event/quest/etc. has to occur every 10 steps as much as one where there's absolutely nothing there.

    I'd love to see maps expanded that contain nothing in the new area more than unique geography and landscapes to allow the world to feel expansive and remote.

    The biggest obstacle to this is that the scale of the existing zones is absolutely terrible, so either the entire game would need to be remade (again), we'd get zones of varable scale (5 steps in Eastern Shroud = 20 steps in New Zone X), or we're SoL and stuck with a hyper-condensed, dinky world that just feels like a platform to serve up fates and quests. :-/
