I can't hear this crap anymore.

In WoW I have 20-30ms latency TOPS. I live in Germany, WoWs servers are located in Paris, if I'm not mistaken.

In FF-XIV I have latency that fluctuates between 1000 and 3000.
When there is an S mob out there in can go up to 30000 yes 30 SECONDS OF LATECY.
I try to rez people that are long since alive again yet I cannot see it lol.

The problem is NOT on my or my ISPs end. If they were I'd have problems with other online games too.

I can dodge 85% of all stuff, but sometimes I get hit despite being out of the yellow circle well before it disappears.

    Wow that is really bad.

It can be between you and your ISP or specifically HOW your ISP(and their peers onward) routes your traffic towards SE servers(which are in Canada).

    Here's an example:
At one point I was playing some game on a server in Frankfurt... I had latency ~30ms then something changed in the routing and I had latency of 100ms+. It appears one of the peers decided to route this connection through most of Europe(one of the points was in the Netherlands) to get there instead of just 2 countries away(I'm from Slovenia).

So yes ISP and the routing between them and onward can be the issue and it can be different for EACH and EVERY game unless they are in the same data center and using the same endpoints in the datacenter.

Do a traceroute towards cerberus(I believe this is the IP 199.91.189.26). When I check my own it get's routed by my ISP through Serbia and then to France... so going farther away than needed instead of going the shortest path.
It shoulh also show you were the latency increases.. for me it's at one point in France(goes from 40ms to 150ms).

Also try sorting that out here... maybe they can help you(you should hide your own ip address if posting that).

Yeah sadly that is the thing that can cause issues to everyone. You can try contacting your ISP to see if they can change anything or if you have an option try it on a diff ISP(friend that isn't using the same one).

First of all, latency wise these results aren't bad. Your RTT1, RTT2 and RTT3 to the destination ip are 109, 109 and 110ms. An average of 109. In other words, it takes just 109 ms for the sent signal to reach the server AND for the response to come back. A speed which is to be expected from a western European country.

The number of hops, being at 21, is relatively high. However, there do not appear to be any specific routing delays. Yes, there are some request time outs going on in between Hamburg and New York, but this is common. In order to prevent simplistic DDoS attacks such hubs often block simple ping and tracert commands. The signal sent to that server will simply be ignored.

So one thing is pretty certain in this case, latency is not what's hindering you. What might be is packet loss. That is more commonly an issue at home rather than within the actual route though. For example wireless networks being used rather than wired networks. Cheap routers being used. Etcetera. With a 100ms polling frequency on the FFXIV servers any form of packet loss is killing. If 2 packets in a row would be dropped, you're directly on a 300 ms delay.

Check for packet loss on pingtest.net. See if you get the wanted 0% score, or whether you reach anything higher than 0% (unacceptable for gaming). Also test it during moments you notice yourself to be lagging. Certain routers may be fine on letting packets through most of the time, however may instantly start dropping once a certain number of in- and outgoing connections are opened. If someone on the network opens up a torrent client, MMO launcher with p2p updating enabled, etc. this may instantly kill your performance.

To this day I am unable to do EX trials because they are simply too laggy and I keep dying due to it as I can't dodge the attacks in time.
    What platform you on?

Could be graphic/animation lag 0_o before I switched to a Solid State Drive last year some FATES would be lagtastic on my PS3 resulting in the occasional death

If your not on console I'd go with kill any tasks that could be interfering with the connection, maybe turn some graphics down incase its lag in that sense (more like frame rate drop).

    Assuming you're on PC:
Go to arrstatus.com and get an IP, open CMD.exe, type in "tracert <ip>" and see where the problem is; an abnormally high ping on one of the waypoints of your route can be that problem.
You can try using VPN services, like WTFast or other. WTFast is what I used during "high congestion" times at the start of the game, it might help you as well.

NA players playing in EU servers will not want EU server go to EU, for the same reason they now are telling is not an issue.

Anyway 3000 ping is something that comes from your PC up to your provider. Changing provider is difficult, try change PC using some friend's beast at your location, and see if ping is different. I suppose you are on PC, anyway.

As someone living in England but on on the American servers, I don't deal with many Europeans however there are still quite a few of us here(used to be a unofficial EU server before designations).

However almost all Europeans I meet here have almost zero problems with lag, on the other hand the Americans with their terrible isps tend to have large problems, especially those in the southwest(presumably because they have a huge distance like us but with terrible isps).
I know more Europeans with great connections to the servers than i do Americans despite being on a American dominated server (even some Canadians have problems despite almost sitting on the servers.

Due to the larger amount of American players and their problems, it would probably be far more cost effective to give them a second server location.

Sorry but NA players have their own NA servers to use. EU players have every right to have their servers in the EU.
