Returning player, clueless, looking for a home.

Hi. So, I played FF14 briefly - about three weeks or so, just long enough to get to level 50 with my pugilist, before I stopped. Now I'm back, after about seven months... And buh, I'm so clueless.

I was going to transfer my pugilist to a server, but I'm not really sure where. I'd like to find an RP server with at least a casual raiding scene - do any of FF14's servers fit that bill, or is it a lost dream?

Although there are no servers officially designated for role-playing, the community has effectively made Balmung (US Legacy) and Gilgamesh (US 'new') servers as the de facto RP servers for the game. And they are very friendly too. I'm not sure about how they do end-game though as my alts on Balmung are only low level, but I presume they'd be accommodating of casual players.

... Uhm, question! I've noticed that both Balmung and Gilgamesh have restrictions that disallow new characters to be made. Does that count for transferring a character, too?

Just have to wait for the right time..like late in the evenings or early morning to add new characters..with transfers I am unsure of sadly

Availability on the servers is based on a tally of the server load at the moment you are creating your character. To trick the system, you need to create a character when there are very few players online and preferrably right after the server reset. Here are the server update times. Try to time your character creation at these times early in the morning or late in the evening. Just set aside one day for it. Once you've created, you can login at anytime.
