East Coast / Central Social / Progression FC?

Hello all, I have been receiving various FC invites in game but not really wanting to join just any FC. I'd like to find one that I'll stick with. I'm looking for a group of fun players who enjoy each other's company foremost, would prefer an active FC who already has a player base, east coast / central time zones. I'm looking to learn the game and take it all in, however I'd also like to be part of a group who isn't averse to doing some raiding type stuff, whether they do that now or plan to eventually. Not looking to be that hardcore player however.

I'm taking it that Grand Company really doesn't matter? It does seem though as though PvP is being centred around GCs, so does it matter?

I've been playing FFXIV for less than two weeks but am enjoying it and would like to find a home eventually!

Oh, and having voice chat of some type is important.

Heya, we use TS3 for voice, mostly for casual chat and for when we do raid. We're primarily a newbie FC and we like people who want to get involved, but we work to form statics at endgame for those members who are looking to raid. EST/CST is common, so naturally we're busy there. Grand Company to my knowledge is not important, though I think there's some content being released that allows different GCs within the same FC to fight eachother. I personally haven't been getting into PvP though.

If you're interested check us out, we have no requirements but we do try to limit our own growth to keep a fairly tight group, so it's possible we end up closing recruitment temporarily again. www.Final-Dawn.enjin.com

    I applied!

Another question ... is raiding all about "statics" nowadays? What happened to whoever's here let's go? I understand the need for "static" times but "static" groups is taking things to a whole different level.

A couple of reasons. For one, the endgame content (Second Coil of Bahamut) is very hard and requires lots of coordination. It's nice to be able to do it with 7 people you know well, and that you know are good. We never have to tell the group "this is how we're doing things this run" because they already know.

The most important reason is that SCoB is lock-out based. Once you clear Turn 6, you can't do it again until Tuesday. Furthermore, higher turns lock you out of lower ones, even if you haven't completed them. If you joined a group that was working on T8, you can't do 6 or 7 that week, even if you don't beat Turn 8. Furthermore, it's progression based. You can't enter Turn 7 unless someone in your group has cleared Turn 6.

So you can see why that wouldn't work without static groups. You have Friday night raid time, but some people want to do T8, but others want do to T6 and don't want to miss the loot from 6 and 7. Others have already cleared Turn 9 for the week and can't do anything, and some people entered Turn 9, failed, and now won't get any chance at loot for the whole week.

For a lot of content, FCs don't bother with statics. For EX Primals and other stuff without a lockout, it's usually just whoever is on. Though you'll often end up doing those with your static anyway, because of the first point.

Is the content all for 8 people? Is there 24 person content?

There is 24 man content (CT and ST), but it is not as hard as the 8 man raid content.
