That's what I usually do, but I have been having bad luck with them lately, so wanted to get some insight. It's a tossup with conversion, just like with anything else it seems.
You know what's so overpowered in this game, that they just HAD to leave out?
-Buffing during cutscenes.
-Pets receiving the Protect buff.
-A blacklist with more than a 200 player capacity.
-Filtering the flying text for your own numbers.
-A better way to organize and sort through your macros.
That's interesting.
Again as reminder, I have miner & goldsmith capped, and I have abundant of rose gold ore. Making aetherite ring only requires 1 ore, and I can even HQ them easily even from NQ ores, especially since I already have my artisan/forager tools (that's ilevel 70 main hands). I also benefitted for making achievement progress of HQ crafts. All those give me no reason to keep making and using them, aside maybe ethically issues.
For players who doesn't have miner/gsm capped, Meteor Survival Ring would be best choice. I simply don't want to waste SB effort. If you do have the means to make them, why not keep doing it? Unless ofc, someone can provide me a big flaw from it.
So again, to OP, if you don't actually have the means of producing/crafting the HQ rings yourself, Meteor Survival Ring would do. Or what @krazyrs said, you better off using lvl 45+ rings that's related to your job instead. I can attest you that I have no problem SBing those too, but at least if it's all HQ since NQ will only hurt your SB progress about twice from HQs. Melding 1 materia (useless one if possible) also speeds up SBing, but I find this in the long run not very profitable even if I use those useless elemental materias.
