PLD Cross Class Skills

Hey hey!

Just curious - What does everyone use for their cross class skills as a PLD?

I have the following -

Bloodbath - This isn't nearly as useful as it is on WAR, and typically results in minimal HP recovery.

Protect - This really doesn't get used at all. The only time I do use it is outside of battle when I'm doing beast tribe stuff or Fates, or when I'm doing a four man run and there's a SCH that forgets to throw Protect on the party.

Stoneskin - I could probably utilize this a bit better for end game raiding, but honestly I don't think about it too much because the healers I am with are pretty on point.

Fracture - I usually use this right before Tank swaps when the other Tank is taking over, as it gives me a bit of a DPS boost to make up for damage lost when I stop doing a full RoH combo. This lets the other Tank get a good lead in hate after Provoking. Either that, or right when a boss is pulled if I'm not MT.

Foresight - I only use this when I need a boost in defense, but the difference is not really notable unless I'm missing something.

Anyone use something else that helps them more?

Also, feel free to throw in any suggestions if you think I could be utilizing these a bit better.

They're all really sucky and situational. PLD is a mess right now. It's a hackjob of a class. They couldn't even give us Esuna? rofl

Cleanses are a healer specific mechanic. Giving Esuna to a non-healer would be like giving Provoke to a DPS: it's an ability that is not part of their role.

LOL. There are DPS Classes that can get Provoke as well as Flash (I think). If I remember right it's the Lancers that can cross it.

The classes all have every cross class ability available to them. You can get a MAR with Blizz 2, Protect, and EfE. Jobs are the only ones restricted to specific classes for cross-class. The only reason that every *class* has access to Provoke is because the devs decided that WAR would have to devote one of its CC slots to it; no non-tank *job* gets it, and you're not really *supposed* to be using a class beyond level 30 anyways (and it's not likely that any non-tank job will ever have access to GLA cross-class because of this; well, also because the entire GLA CC suite is basically only useful for tanking).

I think BLMs can get it as well.

Anyway my current cross classes are cure for myself and I plan on using Raise in the event that all the healers on my party are KO'd. Not sure what the other cross-classes sould be (and where to find them)

PLD raise is out of combat only, so has limited usefulness. That said, I just swapped out cure for raise. I never used cure and at least with raise I can use it as a good Samaritan when I'm out and about doing landscape stuff.

But yea, PLD cross class skills are meh except for stone skin. It is not a situation like with WARs who get access to those two great PLD tanking skills, provoke and flash.

i use stoneskin,foresight,bloodbath,mercy stroke,fracture

mercy stroke and bloddbath are just macro'd into fast blade so there used asap

all sad choices tho

Cure and protect for playing solo, quests, maps etc. Not for group play, so you would have to change them depending on needs.

Mercy Stroke is more useful than you would think, it's an extra off GCD attack and sometimes a nice heal, and it pops up more than it seems at first sight.

I don't use Fracture with the PLD.

Stoneskin, Bloodbath, Foresight, yes.
