It is better, much better. for all parties involved
solo'ers have a plethora of new quests and guildleve adjustments to keep them busy and progressing. I actually find myself enjoying the new pace of guildleves, and don't just grind through them while doing something else in the background.
Auto-attack is a blast! if you take a moment and set up a nice slew of job abilities to your taste and fighting styles. You will find yourself using nearly all of them every encounter, as we have to rely more on our wits and class strengths, and less on our endless cure pool. Abilities fire instantly at your will and it is much easier to change the flow of a changing battle in your favor.
Grinding SP in parties apparently took a hit, though only temporary. But groups and LS have some dungeons to toy with for the time being, and company quests (still unsure if these are group or solo based content, or maybe both) and random enemy encampments to rush into (and Garlean attacks too I am hearing)
There is plenty more going on that has changed the surface of XIV, but these were just some initial thoughts that stood out, and I have only dabbled into the new content and systems so far, but am very much enjoying it compared to pre-1.18
If you fancy crafting you will find yourself welcomed with very helpful local leve rewards, and more convenient repairs.
that is my five second mini-review and opinions on this new direction, I hope you do enjoy it when you get back, and maybe I'll see you online![]()
