Campions - a NEW way to do this! (Epic!)

This would be an incredible waste of time and resources, companions are hardly useful or a major part of the game to begin with. While nice, the time and resources are better spend elsewhere first. I guess its a nice suggestion for when the developers have time to spare or for when over-world content is big enough to warrant more focus on companions.

How would this be a waste of time and resources? The code is already in place for companions, they'd just have to apply it to other mounts beside the chocobo. I for one enjoy running with my burd (he's rank 10 and I barely started the game in March); he's been my buddy ever since I was able to entice him to fight alongside me.



I renamed him last month, and I get compliments on his name all the time now, lol. xD

Yoshi already stated in an interview a while ago that they are planning/working on your Magitek Armor mount will be the next companion to be released (he didn't mention a timeframe or patch target for it though).

Beyond that, he mentioned the possibility for a Wyvern companion for Dragoons (mostly due to all the FF XI fans demanding it & Yoshi not wanting to completely rebalance DRG due to making it a pet).

Past that, it kinda seems like companion status is the direction that Retainers are going right now (being able to equip gear & gain class levels).

I'd love for other other mounts to get the companion treatment!

Although as for more new ideas, I'd personally like to be able to do a quest(line) to get a Beastman companion from each Beast Tribe I've gotten to Trusted with (with a different story/line for each tribe of course).

That is a freaking awesome idea. I want a kobold to throw bombs at stuff for me. >:3

That would be a nice way to solo outdated content, just me, my chocobo, my retainer and an angry kobold.

Before they implement this I'd like for them to make a way for people to go into dungeons solo or with their companion for fun, to solo the lower level dungeons for Glamour gear and/ or level your companion.
