How am I meant to level with a friend now?

Also, I don't give two craps whether you think XI is hard or not, just to be clear. Fun is what matters. If you find grinding hundreds of puks (or whatever) to go from level 33-34 "hard" ... um okay. Fun? Really?

I find taking on NMs solo in abyssea to be fun. But people here think it is "easy" and that NMs should be party only content. (Witness the biggest complaint about THMs was that they could solo nms. Really? Give me a break) That's nuts. I don't find it fun to mindlessly grind.

Soloing the dark lord? Man that is FUN.

you can't solo everything in abyssea. Well you can solo anything with a brew, but you run out of cruor pretty fast doing that, and get no procs so it would be pretty pointless.

And, there is ton of content outside of abyssea that is not soloable either. You aren't even allowed to enter nyzul solo for example.

Before the level cap raise, there wasn't a whole lot that you could solo and even then, you could only do it with a select few jobs with specific gear, specific stats and specific macros. Again, FFXIV is much much much easier to level in and much faster, if you do it correctly, compared to correctly leveling in FFXI. Remember those leve exploits you mentioned about 14? Yeah, there was an "exploit," as you claim, in XI called summoner burns which is probably what you did to get your levels.

I never did a summoner burn. I stopped playing XI way back when it sucked and was grindy. I came back when they made it fun. I did clearly state above that I solo/duoed my levels, but, it is cool if you would rather just blindly attack me versus actually reading my posts.

Campaign, Fields of Valour, and not to mention Level sync making it a joke to find others to play with.

All at 75 cap, and this was in 2007-2008.

yes and? It still took much longer to level compared to FFXIV and this was also around the time of summoner burn.

@ LuxLex: So you quit when it required skill...and came back when everything was dumbed down and FFXI lost over half of it's subscription base? Alright...that's fine, honestly, because I was one of those that quit with the release of Abyssea...but it's fine, you obviously won't last in this game, despite it STILL being easier than FFXI.

Guess what, I am talking of the XI of today, not the XI of the past. I don't care what XI used to be like. I care about the XI I play today.

What is "correctly leveling" - It is easy to get a job from 1-50 in XI in a day - no abyssea required. Can you level a job in XIV from 1-50 in a day? You're wrong. Period.

By summoner burning, you can get from 1-50 in a day, yes, but not through actual partying unless you literally take 24 hours straight. And yes, you can go from 1-50 in a day in FFXIV. Hell, back when SP was completely broken, people were already rank50, a week after release. My old LS leader was one of them =)
