ATMA have killed the magic of this game for me. Im out.

Atma farming is an absolutely terrible, lazy, and enraging mechanic. The developers of this game should be ashamed of themselves.
I've been hard at work farming Atmas since the patch went live. I have 4. I've farmed for a minimum of 1.5hrs and usually 3, six days a week. The other day I had the extreme displeasure of watching a gentleman on my friends list complete his farming in a single day. 6hrs 9mins and he was totally done. Total BS. RNG screws over some of us who work and work for it, others walk up and oneshot this thing.
In the future, I'd suggest making it something simple, easy, and obtainable by everyone, with the same amount of work.
For example: Score 500 points in FATEs in this zone.
Gold = 5 pts
Silver = 3 pts
Bronze = 2 pts
Failure = 1 pt
If you even tried, you get something. A system totally dependent on RNG to produce a 1% drop rate is absolutely absurd.
I, for one, am done with this game. I can't be the only one. I hope SE learns from this mistake.

If you're upset or frustrated with the ATMA grid/drop rate, simply stop work on your ATMA quest.

There's plenty more game to enjoy.

I really don't know why people are stressing over the Atma stuff. Granted I'm one of those that got mine in 2 days of grinding, but it's not like I NEED an Atma. There isn't anything in game that you need it for, so why not just take a break till next patch or two? That's what the hubby & I are doing, playing other single player and co-op games we've neglected till there's more to do in game then just BCOB, tome grinding, & this.

I totally understand your frustration OP but I say just take a break don't let this be what makes you decide to give up the game for good. This game isn't even technically a year old yet (not including 1.0 time), just play some other stuff while more content comes out ^_^b

ATMA is awful, I knew in 15 minutes I'd never, ever do it... Even for an ilvl 150 weapon. I don't care. It's meaningless, pointless, awful, horrible, terrible, mind numbingly boring, and it is obviously an overt design decision to prologue your subscription.

But, having said that... The entire game is designed with 90% filler and 10% actually doing something fun.

This is my first, and almost certainly last, MMO.
I happened to pick it up at a time when there isn't much else I want to play, but I cannot imagine anyone choosing this "game?" over any real game with actual fun mechanics.

I'm truly surprised that people complain about the ATMA quest though, because in order to even get to ATMA you had to go through about 1-200 hours of very similar, stupid, rote, mind numbingly boring tasks overtly designed to simply increase the amount of time you spend paying SE a sub.

So, why complain now... Lol?

Well I did not enjoy doing ATMA fates but then again I could just stop doing them, if you get tired by ATMA fates then do something else: I do plan on full upgrade on AF weapon for BLM but i'll get it done when i'm there and if that takes 2 or 3 months that is ok.

Just reiterating what everyone else is saying, just don't do it then! There's viable alternatives. It's a game remember! In fact, I'm surprised anyone has done it, but some people find grinding fun!

At least the previous quests didn't force you to roll imaginary dice before you were allowed to proceed. Everyone can do any quest at their own pace, but the RNG Atmas will determine whether or not you advance.


For the others, I have seen nearly everyone say "Go do something else!"

....Like what? At this point, people already cleared the EX primals and the second coil of Bahamut. The last patch didn't really give a lot of new things to do, so what do you expect people to do?
