you're right. they need to add more end game rewards to the hunts to invalidate the rest of the content and ignore fishers pleas for tackle boxes and icon adjustments that take 2 seconds! what ever was I thinking!
Fixed the BOLD and updated Gathering. Thank you.Was able to catch Discobolus with 354 gathering, also happened to notice on the first page the bait is bolded not the fish for this entry.
Edit: I figured I would mention this aswell, went 350 gather 130 perception to The Matriarch. She gave me 3 bites before I had to leave so not much of a sample but 0/3 for that.
Caught a Sweetnewt with 348 gathering, foggy weather, time was ~11:30pm.
Hannbal in N. Than at least needs needs more than 337 gathering
I lean towards the tiered school of thought and it has generally worked for me.Hmm, does anyone know if the Big Fish have arbitrary gathering requirements set per fish, or if there are set tiers of fish? Like, Frilled Shark and Aetherlouse are the same tier, both requiring 383 Gathering, and Shark Tuna and Twitchbeard are also the same tier which requires only 348 gathering? If that's true, it'll be much easier to figure out the hard gathering requirements.
Possible longshot, but there may be a way to formulaically interpolate the minimum gathering requirement based on the delta in the desynth percentages associated with fish with known gathering requirements. For example, compare the desynth % success (use a fixed desynth level) for a 383G Frilled Shark (i80) to a 348G Sylphsbane (i80). That said, if two i80 348G fish have different % success rates at the same desynth level, this theory is shot.
It's been my experience that all 2.3 fish use the exact same Desynth rate. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any difference between one and the other. On the other hand, it has been proven that some 2.3 fish need different Gathering rates, Aetherlouse and Frilled shark being the two most noticeable.I lean towards the tiered school of thought and it has generally worked for me.

Has anyone come close to completing the 2.3 fish log yet? Lately it seems the RNG has lightened up a bit and in the past three days I've caught 8 different varieties. Twitchbeard did get away today so I'm 0/1 on him... but he will mine before too long.
I finished yesterday around 4 pm CST, Terpsichorean being the last one I caught.
