It just took ages from cast until "small" bite

Missing Anomalocaris myself. So fun to wait 5 days for right weather just to end up with "Fish gets away..." text 383 Gathering.

had this happen 2 times with vip viper, it takes ages to get even 1 bite, then it just got away 2 times - with food, supra, bis, guild buff :'D

atleast I was able to catch my last fish today: starbright, slutty as anomalocaris

working on the last fish for my luminary and some missing non big fish now


edit: btw, I'd 2 wardens wand bites at 8:10 pm and the hungry cat side says the window ends at 8
but I'm not sure if the time counts when I casted the line, which was probably at around 7:55 both times

I've had plenty fishes when casting line at like 7:59 and then weather changing but still landing the big fish, even with wrong weather/time.

Btw just general question, how many fishes people have gotten? Im just curious, im nearly at 27k mark and missing 1 big fish and 551 from Shroud for Luminary, havent really fished anything else but filling fishing log to have everything caught, plus few Twitchbeards/Octomammoths/Frilled Sharks for desynth.

I'm at 10.300 now, missing 33 ordinary fish (some of them still require dbl mooch, lol), got all big fish so far and 1.300 to go for the luminary

I havent spend too much time with fishing, I just moved and the internet connection here is that awful, that I actually cant do anything else in the game then fishing xd

11x "Fish gets away..." with Anomalocaris. Kinda stupid how it doesnt matter if u have 358 Gat or 393, its all RNG if u get it or not.

Only got Shark Tuna and Frilled Shark left

I find Frilled Shark to be surprisingly easy to catch. Despite all the HQs needed for the triple-mooch, the catches are 100%, 100%, 75%, and unclear (40%+ - hard to datamine due to weather and time restrictions, but it sure feels like ~75%). If you assume a 20% chance to HQ, that's a 0.2*0.2*0.2*0.75*0.75 = 0.45% chance per cast. So, on average, ~200 casts for a catch. If each cast takes on average 5 Eorzean minutes (15 seconds - a high estimate), that's 12 casts per hour, 10 hours per window (food expires after 10 Eorzean hours anyway), for 120 casts per window. So, that gives about a 50% chance per window to catch one. The windows are pretty common, from what I've seen. I often catch two per window.
