How do you handle loot when you have to PUG 1 or more members?

So today we had to pick up a person outside of our static for Turn 7. I main dragoon, but in Turn 7 alone I kite as a summoner. We picked up a mnk and requested that they roll greed on slaying accessories, but with full permission to lot need on tome/oil and striking gear. The slaying neck dropped, and he rolled greed as requested while the rest of my static passed so it was between just me and them. I won it, as well as the oil, and our tank got the tome. They seemed very upset to have not gotten a drop.

I curious to know if others think this was a fair setup or not, generally I don't like having to go on an alt class to handle the kiting, but I didn't wanna trust a PUG to that. I also am curious to know how others handle loot if they have to PUG members for any reason.

Sounds totally fair in my opinion. Both had the same chance to win the roll, you got lucky and won. Unfair would have been not letting the Pick up roll at all as they contributed.

And i'm jelly, neck wont drop for me! XD

Sounds fair. He agreed to it before any of it dropped. If this was sprung on him right as the items dropped, then I would have felt differently.

Sounds completely fair. The pug person joined knowing the loot rules, accepted them, and everyone looted according to the agreed rules. You got lucky, the pug person didn't. That's just rng.

As long as rules are clear from start, and it is not a DF party, you can PUG even all other 7 members. Then RNG is king, but we all knows it.

The rules seemed to be clear and he agreed with it because he didn't say something then u explaned it. In my opinion it was fair. He had the same chance like all others.

If he agreed to it before the run, then it fair.

Though I seen some pretty harsh loot rules that I would never agree to, but as long he agreed with it, he can't really complain.

My rules for loot, random or pre-formed, is, "If you want it, lot it. If you don't, pass." Simple, effective. Have I missed out on stuff I wanted, yes. But it's not like they kicked me out of the party then lotted on it, it was even and fair and upfront and that's what matters.

Yeah that sounds perfectly fine. I pugged Turn 6 and 7 with two different groups last week. I went WHM on Turn 6, but as SMN is my main I asked if me and the BLM could greed on Casting gear and I'd pass Healing, they agreed although nothing of either dropped anyway so didn't matter in the end. Then on Turn 7 I was back on Summoner and I was just allowed to Need/Greed on whatever, including Oil and Tome; didn't get either though. Also, funny how you said the MNK seemed annoyed not to have gotten anything, as it was other way round for me. The group I did Turn 7 with were apologising that I didn't get any loot lol.

So yeah, most groups seem to handle loot with a PUG quite fairly.

When my static was still running, the rule for PUGs was the same as ours :

    1) pick a main (not forced to be your playing job)

    2) pick an alt solution

    3) if the loot is your main, everyone else (who hasn't main'ed it) pass. If it's your alt, you're only allowed to lot if noone main'ed it

    4) unclaimed items are FFA
