I'll admit that wait times for DPS classes were atrocious back then, now it's not so bad. Guildhest roulettes I tend to get in within 5-10 minutes or less as DPS. Other roulettes will be around double the wait time of what the state average is (ex: 10 minute average wait time, I'm usually waiting around 20 minutes). The only time that I've had a much longer wait time in que is when I join in for a specific dungeon/trial/guildhest. But I've rarely had to wait for an hour (or more) on the roulettes as a DPS class.

Even if the developing staff were to have introduced a tank class (or healer class) instead of another DPS class, it wouldn't have much, if any, impact on wait times for DPS classes. As has been stated before, people of all types will try it out but it will most likely be those who normally play tank classes who will stick with the new tank class (the same can be applied to a new healing class). The reasons why more DPS players cannot be coaxed into either tanking or healing are many: for some it's boring, for others they don't want to deal with the verbal abuse should something go wrong (even if it wasn't the fault of the tank/healer because DPS was standing in bad), some don't want to even try because people don't want to be patient with dealing with a new tank/ healer.

So the issue isn't so much as the developers' problem but more of a player-created problem.

I too, feel frustrations when it comes the population disparity between tanks and any other class.

The queue times on DPS is rather difficult to stay with when you have limited playtime and your friends playtimes do not always run in sync with yours. (And when they do, it's raid time so no currency farming).

That said... that's why I've decided not to pigeon-hole my experiences into a single role of the game, broaden my horizons, and pick up an axe.

After all, if you've got an 'Axe to grind' with queue times, you might as well put it to use, right?

Sadly, DPS having bad queue times are an unfortunate reality. If you're farming for currency, don't let yourself be restricted to one role. Explore around the game a bit with different classes. A broader experience in the game and their roles will also help your performance in your chosen one as well.

But limiting the queue like that, is your own choosing.
Maybe T4 T5 and primal ex needs people, that at least understand you, but most of the other things are quite self explainable without lots of talking :|

Verbal abuse as tank / healer.
In a game flooded with DPS I'm still not sure why SE decided to release a DPS class.
Why have a game when you cannot even play it?
I have never waited more than 40min as a DPS, its longest for ranged dps (BRD/BLM/SMN) due to the matching tank, healer, 1melee, and 1ranged and only having 2 melee classes. Adding a 3rd melee will actually help 3/5 of the current DPS in queues (after the initial wtf NIN everywhere leveling)

adding more tank/healers wont help the balance, the same people who wont tank/heal now wont still, and the ones who already do will continue too.

Besides, it's not exactly about the MMO cycle, but the fact that you'll be more than capable of controlling all of your party members and thus eliminating the queue factor the OP has noted, in your standard offline/single player RPG or JRPG.
Game style has absolutely nothing to do with what is or is not a JRPG. A JRPG is simply the term used to identify a Role Playing Game made in Japan. Despite the fact that Final Fantasy XI and XIV are both MMO's, they are still part of the RPG super-genre, and they were both produced in Japan. As such they both qualify as JRPG's whether you like it or not.

My ques as bard are usually 15-30 min. I select "in progress" most of the time so sometimes I'll get lucky within 8-10 min.
