I basically agree, imo, the "GC" you are in for the battle should be random, and not associated with your personal GC at all. Other than the issues stated above, you always wind up getting other problems, like a general perception that one GC is better than another, and then players in the know join that GC, queue times go up, competition goes down, etc.

Fixed faction pvp is really not a good idea. I'm going to call it right now that this changes in a patch or two. Look no further to see how much this impacted WoW, most of the pvp'ers would generally be horde. Now considering how much easier it is to change factions in FF, imagine that Maelstrom started doing really well, many players will just flock over.
