The Praetorium: The Anti-Climactic Climax

All of Eorzea thinks me a hero. But they don't know it's a lie.

While it's true I joined the group of adventurers that stormed the Praetorium, I wasn't able to lift a finger to help them. While I stopped for a few moments to engage in dialogue with the Empire's villains, the rest of the team pushed ahead without their second tank. By the time I finished exchanging words with each villain, he would already be laying dead at my feet. Apparently, a Monk even tanked Ultima Weapon just for fun.

I'm not upset at other players who have reasonable wishes to skip past cutscenes they've already experienced. But for me, this was an extremely depressing way to experience the final battles of my character's main storyline. I think the frequency of cutscenes in this dungeon, combined with the lack of gear cap (as present in low level dungeons), make this a compromise where nobody wins.

Please forgive me, Eorzea. I'm not the adventurer you're looking for.

We are there to get myth. In exchange new players don't sit in queue for hours, or have to find 7 other people on their server, to help them beat the game. Watch the CS the first time. Do the boss fights again the next time. Or form your own group. Or watch the CS in your Inn.

I don't understand this mentality. I thought we were playing an MMO, & part of that is helping others. Why do we (us who started 2.0 at launch) get to enjoy our story ending because we're all at that point but the guy who just joined on PS4 has to skip all their cutscenes or be forced to watch it in the inn (which btw is NOT as good as watching it as it happens & actually SEEING your party members in the cs with you)?

I see plenty of new people without FCs that are playing solo atm while they get a feel for things or w/e their reasons. They should be able to go into the DF & enjoy their ending instead of being told "Watch it in the inn!" or "Make a PF group if you want to watch cs!"

Nooo, how about you make a party for your myths & let new players enjoy their awesome ending. Isn't that what Brayflox is for?

I do plenty to help others through content. It just isn't reasonable to ask players to literally sit idle for hours each week for 100 myth. That is just poor design on the party of SE. They could have made each boss fight a separate trial with long cutscenes at the end. They could have done a lot of things, but they didn't and unfortunately the end result is no one is satisfied.

The only other option I see is to remove it from the roulette and new players spend can spend hours in queue like they did waiting for Cape Westwind before it got added into the trial roulette, but no one wants that.

They need to remove the duty roulette for main scenario then. Queue times are going to suffer longer wait times. I do not believe Brayflox was intended to be spheed gunned as it is now. The roulette was designed to decrease wait times by giving an incentive to high level players to spot in a the main scenario that didn't have enough people. Sometimes its faster to roulette the main scenario than to form a mythflox PF. In any case, your going to get the players who want to speed run it simply because they want myth.

If the reward was changed toward garnering players who want like commendations instead, you might get more players willing to wait a cutscene or two. A reward that gives more commendation per person. This would give power to the newer player to hand out something a repeat runner would want.

I'm hoping to one day return and beat it as a proper participant. In the meantime, I'm leveling some lower-level classes to shrug off the shame.
