Share your Coil 9 2nd meteor placement strategy

After trying several approaches with different reliability due to RNGesus, we finally worked out one which doesn't rely on RNGesus and can be executed always the same with minimum amount of awareness of the single players. For our group it works like a charm. However the drawback of this approach is that the error margin for misplacing meteors is really tight.

    Explanation:

The whole group starts at 1 and will run the brown path with placing the meteors accordingly. Attention, the person who places a meteor can directly walk to
the next but one spot, e.g. the person who places Meteor 1 can directly walk to Spot 3 because he won't be targetted for Spot 2 and will be in sync with the group again.

Good luck to all groups who are still progressing Turn 9 Hope it helps.

My group does it a little bit differently, to account for the slight differences of placement of other characters on your screen due to latency. Our Meteor 2 strategy relies heavily on waypoints we set for the first meteor group. An A is placed on the left of the boss (if you are looking at it as though you are ranged), a B is placed on the right side, and a C is placed near the entrance to the arena. Anyone who is given a meteor marker runs to any of these points and places the meteor next to those points. So, A, B, and C have room for two meteors each (because of the placement). If we placed correctly, golems will eat both rocks at the same time when pulled over to the waypoints. We drop golems in the middle directly on the circles. As we are preparing for meteor 2, we gather up (loosely) in the center and watch each other. Our group takes turns dropping meteors in a similar formation to how we did the first meteors... First person runs A, second person B, third person C, fourth person A again, etc. This accounts for the time it takes to actually have a meteor drop, so that the first meteor at A is in place by the time the fourth meteor (second A meteor) needs to be placed.

The downsides to this strategy... there is a lot going on at that point, and it can be easy to miss who exactly has the first marker. Memorizing the timing and loosely stacking up can help, and having someone watch for it is also good. If someone messes up and doesn't correctly place their meteor, it could mean a wipe because the spacing and timing is pretty tight as it is.

I would like to read the input of others, as we haven't completely mastered this phase yet although we have had a lot of success doing it this way so far. Maybe there is an easier way to try? I don't think OP's strategy would work for us because we tried doing the "run around the circle clockwise" method but we would keep mpking each other with meteors due to us not knowing EXACTLY where everyone else is on the screen. It's sort of like how when you dodge things, you see yourself move first and everyone else move a little bit later... So, having everyone move individually was simply easier for us.

Yes you are right with the latency thing. Maybe I mistelled it a bit. Everyone is watching his own ass and walks the brown path for himself, so it looks like group moving but it really isn't, so you have only to watch out for the markers but not the ppl themselves. Yeah we tried that run as group in circle too, it is very unreliable. For the first meteors we're doing the same as you.

I will try giving your method a go if we continue to have issues. As long as we are stacked up, yes the markers will do the trick... and if there are set locations (instead of just 'run around in a circle') perhaps it will be easier to know exactly where to place the meteor and who has to do it based on the order. I suppose counting out numbers (in voice) while everyone is running would also help.

Just another hint on the golems who spawn afterwards: Have the OT who takes the red one pull it away from the group until he does his first pacman, otherwise it will become very messy, I promise

I dunno your kill order, ours is as follows:

PLD takes green one, WAR (in strength gear without defiance) takes the red one, BRD tanks the blue one. We burst the green one down before color change. When the green is dead, the BRD switches over to the WAR golem (who will switch its color from red to blue) and the group focuses the new red one (who switched from blue to red) and it dies before he is able to do a pacman. Usually, the red and blue golem die almost exact the same time about 5-7 seconds before meteors appear.

Long story short: Get the initial red golem away from group until first pacman.

Right now, my group does the "stack on each other, hit sprint when the first meteor icon appears and run down the edge of the arena until golem meteors happen" method. I really, really hate that we do that.

The way we do it is we form a circle in the middle, spread out a bit and run straight forward to the direction we face then run back. If you get tagged with another meteor while running back run to an open spot to the left or right of where you placed the first one. Just make sure you pay attention to who gets marked so you don' t run to them.

Our circle formation follows the lines of the inner circle on the OP' s image.

sounds like what we were doing, but you can make it easy by having everyone run in a circular fashion on the outer ring, try to connect the dots.

there's really no need to sprint,

1.) not everyone will have the same TP coming off of golems, you'll end up with people having shorter or longer sprints.
2.) sprinting will amplified the displacement caused by latency
3.) you'll be TP starved once you finished placing the meteors

Just run as a group and you'll be fine.

if you can place meteors perfectly during first phase without the use of sprint you can do the same for the 2nd set of meteors.

We all spread out around the map. The tank of the last golem and our dragoon stay near where the last golem dies. The rest of the ranged dps and healers pick a spot on the map and stand there. You watch who is to you left or right. If you get a meteor drop it and slide over until you are in a safe area. Once 4 meteors fall, if you do not have an icon anymore you run directly to the center of the map for aoe healing then back out before the new set of golems fall. It just requires people to pay attention during the meteor phase.

Even if one person gets 3 meteors as long as they are paying attention to the two people on either side of them it is fine.If both people on your left and your right get a meteor and you have gotten multiple meteors you can go into the center edge of the ring to drop a meteor and you just compensate dropping the green meteors, since the entire other side of the map would be clear of meteors.

There's really no reason to have a special strategy. We just spread out around the outside and drop em, keeping an eye out if someone near you has one or not.
