Do you guys think SE will ever change the way Coils lockout works?

I'm fine with looting once a week. But it sucks that I can't help other people with Coils or even experiment with other parties because I'm locked down to a static. Has SE mentioned lifting this weekly lockout?

Hell, even if they restrict it to the point that you can't even see any loot that drops beyond your first clear of the week, I would be fine with that. By this, I mean when I beat T6 and don't see the piece of loot I want and decide to pass on both pieces of loot, the next time I beat T6 that week, I won't even be eligible to loot on anything. It would keep people from farming the latest turns in Coils till they get what they want, but it also lets people help out friends, FC, and LS members.

I know it's been talked about, but I don't recall if there has ever been an official response from one of the devs.

No, I don't believe they have mentioned anything about it. I'm sure when it's not the highest and best loot in the game it will be just like first coil is now, but not anytime soon.
I sort of like it do. I love the people I coil with, and while I do wish I could help others at times, I've become so close with my static it feels kind of underwhelming trying it with other groups. That's just me though.

I actually understand how you feel. The people I generally feel closest to in-game are the people I'm in a static with. That's because we're forced to raid on certain days and hours. However, the method I described would still keep you in a static since, well, the more you raid with a static, the less loot others need and the more loot you can take as well. Given that you would still be forced to endure a weekly loot lockout, I think all this would promote is having people help friends, family, FC, and LS members. Or just help people who can't beat coils. Would it promote carries? Sure, but there is really no stopping people who are foolish enough to pay for them. Whether it's now or 6-7 months after the raid is out.

Yeah you want a ct like method, but the problem with this is run selling, and stuff like that. I don't think I'd hate it, but I don't mind it either way.

run selling is a much lesser evil than lots of people not being able to partake in the content.

I don't know. I don't think I'd feel very happy knowing people were paying for gear I had to work hard to obtain. The content is not sealed off, they can partake, it just takes practice and time. I don't see how putting a ct like lockout on the content would make it any more accessible.

    No it isn't.
This the 1% of the content that's locked being able to find a group of skilled enough players to beat it with(you don't really need a static for the first turns anymore) once per week.
The lock's there to prevent run selling and general trivialization of the content, and as someone said it's either this or ridiculously low drop rates so ,yeah, deal with it.
And as for the original OP question, no i don't think coil(or equivalent endgame raid) will have ever not have some kind of weekly lockout .

It's not that they're not able to partake in the content. It's that they're not able to partake in the content *right now*. There were plenty of people who never did CoB in 2.1; 2.2 lands, and now they're doing the content. The absolute endgame is not casual content nor should it be; *eventually* it will become casual content (I expect the devs will start applying Echo to the absolute final coil before the xpac comes out so that casuals can get in there before it's rendered redundant by the increased level cap and gear inflation), but, it's only exclusive content for a limited time.

The problem with your suggestion is that, even if people are selling SCoB runs already, groups would be able to sell more than one SCoB run per week. As it stands, SCoB runs are a limited resource; your suggestion would turn them into an unlimited resource to be exploited even *if* people aren't getting loot out of it.

About the only way I could see it working would be if you can bring in someone who has already completed it by turning it into a "practice" version of the instance (or bringing in someone who's already beaten it turns it into a practice version of the instance) where a kill doesn't count (the boss barrier on the back doesn't fall) and no one gets loot. It would help you teach people how to do the run (which is what most people want when helping their friends) without allowing for selling the runs.

i dont feel like googling it but Yoshi did answer someones question about this and it pretty much said no because
people would carry others through and then the gear would be over saturated through out the community too soon.

and the argument about wanting to help friends with coil:

you can help anyone you want to; just dont beat the turn.
lets say you're in a FC that has 1 static and a handful of people with out one.
allow one or two to tag along in turn 6 to show them the ropes but stop before completing.
afterwards get the static together and beat.
next day do a new turn and again bring someone along and etc.
by the end of the week those that were shown the ins and out could form their own static and be that much more prepared.

or make alts that help friends get through coil while your main character runs it with their static.

though the options are not always ideal there are plenty of ways to work around the lock out if you truly want to help people.
