This actually makes getting higher level gear pointless.
With all the gear capping that happens already, making your ilvl90/100/110 essentially NQ gear. You are really only getting the gear to do the next Turn.
That within itself falls under the category of a possibility still. I doubt that ilvl sync will extend beyond what level caps we have already.
Of course it will. 2.4 will have the third coil. They need better gear to entice players into running it. By that time, the second coil will be casualized.
From what I see, the whole iLevel fiesta started from FFXI when Seekers of Adoulin released. When XI raised weapon/gear's iLevel, ARR usually follows on later patches.
So... I'm guessing when XI decide to raise their iLevel as more Adoulin content released, we can expect ARR to follow suit.
I don't have a problem as long as they add an iLvl sync. Especially since 2.4 will also be coming with a removed lockout and the Echo for BCoB2, if 2.2 was any indication.
I was expecting the expansion to enter in place of 2.5

Well, by the time 2.4 releases, chances are it will be an expansion, either 2.4 is in it, or it is a few mths away.

You guys really need carrots to make you move forward.
2.4 will be the 3rd part of coil you can bet there will be an ilvl increase. This makes it easier for people who couldn't beat the 2.2 and 2.3 content able to try and do that content along with echo buffs. Since nobody knows about 2.5 and beyond, but most likely we will get an expansion sometime after 2.5 which should be the last CT. I am going to assume that FFXIV's expansion will be similar to wow or other mmos in that when the expansion comes out you have to level up to the new level cap your old raid gear is replaced by quest gear and dungeon gear during the leveling process. When you hit max level you run some max level dungeons to gear up in starter raid gear bought with tomes then start collecting your new raid gear / limited tome gear in the first raid of the expansion.
In most MMOs as a hardcore player you really have only 1 tier of content that you work on at a time. Allthough causal players are the ones usually a tier behind but can do the content hardcores were doing with higher illvl gear and nerfs.

This is called power creep and it's an industry wide problem that's been addressed in different ways. (Mostly through lateral progression.)When you only offer 4 new dungeons that are more difficult than what has previously been released (Coils 6-9) and the game's population steadily surpasses the previous I-level cap, everything that was released prior starts to get easier and easier to the point that it is nothing but a grind.
Just wanted to get that definition out there.
Its been happening for nearly 10 years in wow and 7 million people are okay with it and this is essentially a wow clone with a final fantasy feel so get used to continually rising ilvl equipment.
