Useless as in it doesn't affect the game's balance in any way, meaning you losing out on that item won't suddenly hinder your progress or you gaining that item won't suddenly make you a god.
This ^
Plus if they only gave rl stuff then there might just be the few crazy people that are going specifically for the ingame item lol. Then they may not go. Who knows. So not everyone would be happy.
I hope they give a minion or something like that so the people that do go stick out I think it would be cool. I'm not going but atleast I get to see he cool stuff they get
This has nothing to do with that... Basically you're saying I should only care about something that changes the game's balance and I'm telling you it is about adding enjoyment to the game. Other then adding to your post count, why bother posting about something you don't care about? But ya I made my point for the off chance a dev reads it and it is rock solid, so whatever.

This is exactly what I am saying. Obviously people care about items that make your character stronger vs other players in dungeons etc. Well, some people care about items that make their character look cool. That is game balance to them. You can't write them off and say their opinion is invalid. They are paying customers too. This has nothing to do with that... So, people think they should get a special item created for people who attend an event even though they have no intention of attending the event themselves? What pray tell would be the purpose of even making a fanfest item then? Aside from SE making $10-$30 off people with more money then time.
So it's ok for everyone and their brother, sister and mother to get it just by throwing a few bucks at SE? Devaluing the item even further? There's a reason there are exclusive or limited time items. I've seen many threads from people wanting to look different from others and such, but when everyone can get everything, it devalues any given outfit or item. This is exactly what I am saying. I know a few people that make a very big deal on these exact forums about how many minions they have in their collection and they celebrate like they've just won the lottery when they get the last one in the current game content (until next patch when they get the rest and celebrate again!). I think many of them would be heart broken if they had to spend literally $5k real life dollars to fill the hole this may make in their collection, otherwise they'll always be incomplete no matter how hard they work every day in game. Different people, different priorities, different styles, different game making/breaking content.
Why does there need to be so much imaginary value put into the item in the first place? Are people going to the event just to get the in game item? The reward for going to the event should be just that, GOING TO THE EVENT where you be there in person with the developers hearing everything first hand and being there with all of your fellow gamers and friends. lol.So it's ok for everyone and their brother, sister and mother to get it just by throwing a few bucks at SE? Why are you so quick to jump on people who say that the item should stay exclusive when you're basically doing the same exact thing, just from the other side of the fence? If they shouldn't put so much "imaginary value" into the item then why is it such a big deal if you (and others) can't get it without going to Fan Fest?
