New player question: elitist?

I bought and started play this game about a week ago and I love it. The community in-game seem nice and helpful as I do dungeons and such.
I was on forum sites before I got the game to see how the community is. I seemed sort of elitist, but got it anyway, and have no regrets. I was wondering if that's something I should be concerned with later now. I am going to get irritated with people like this regularly or it is just the 1%? I guess I would be a casual because I play to have fun.

Are you asking if you will encounter a lot of elitists when you get up into the higher levels? (Sorry for the misunderstanding, my mind isn't at 100% today..then again it never is lol)

Forums make every problem that occurs once in a while in a game into an end of the world situation that happens any time any one logs in. You will meet elitists, you will meet casuals, you will meet those in between and some of each of these three groups will sometimes be jerks. Not much different than anywhere else.

Tanks generally catch a lot of flak when something goes wrong though (even if it is someone else's fault). The game puts a lot of pressure on tanks to perform and the community is generally hyper-critical about tanks and healers (tanks most-so). Don't let those comments get you down and keep in mind that you'll shut them up if you stick to the game.

So, given the fact your main class is gladiator, I would expect many more elitist comments questioning your skill, parentage, and self-worth. I'm afraid players will always complain about the tank first, the healer second, and ignore the dps.

For the most part, people who enjoy playing the game are playing it (and helping others), while many of those that don't enjoy it as much are giving the forums a negativity buff (generalization, not everyone here is a hater ^^).

That said, your best bet is to find a nice FC with nice people early in the game. If you don't, you are guaranteed to experience a skewed perception of the community as you are introduced to end-game. In particular, the storyline quests requiring 8 people working together (about the time you reach level 47-50) will either make or break the game for you, depending on if you run it with friends or not.

It's also why I believe dps outnumber tanks and healers 10 to 1. If SE can fix this, they can fix a lot of issues at once.

That's something the community can really fix themselves. Don't blame someone else if you make a mistake. That's not the devs fault, that's the community. lol
