The big thing is that Healing is less about raw power and more about strategic use of your abilities and timing your heals properly (especially as a Scholar). Raw power is more important for a SMN than it is for a SCH. You can compensate for weaker numbers on SCH by playing smarter, where as for a DPS check, you want your SMN to be outputting as much damage as possible.

With that being said, the point differential won't make a difference on any non-end game scenario. If you're not planning to Second Coil of Bahamut on SMN, it won't make or break a run. Likewise, pick the points on which class you think you play more / enjoy more. I enjoy using SMN and SCH equally, but I'm a healer at heart so I put all my points into MND.
