The sad thing is, the fact that you can roll your face on the keyboard to get a similar sounding name to the XIV names just means we won't remember them.

None of the characters now are memorable except Cid, Thancred, Yshtola, and the Papsmear NPC from Grid... Paplymno? Anyway his name is still difficult to spell.

Its not that I am lazy, but these names aren't even names. Compare these names to other MEMORABLE Final Fantasy characters and notice the difference.

Snow
Relm
Kain
Garnet
Squall
Laguna

I just threw out a few, but they all have relatively easy names -- but still unique.

Its like the miserable pirate talk with a thousand apostrophes per sentence. I can't read and logically understand it in enough time to continue on my merry way.

Please ... just name the NPCs something a bit more normal.

I'm not entirely sure I agree. I think the only reason we remember such names is because we are involved with them more than once or twice. From XI: Joachrim and Horst aren't common normal names either but we remember them because we have to talk them every bloody time we want to do anything in Abyssea. All those "notable" names you mentioned from XIV also happen to be NPCs players have a lot of interaction with.

Its just like player names, even if they have the most ridiculous name; after you have to type /tell <ridiculous name> several times, you'll learn to spell it and remember it :P
