What I have my party do is tell me on teamspeak if they are in orangs or red and begin a mental queue for accomplice, starting with the highest threshold and working my way through the list, adjusting as needed. In this case, hate others are generating becomes a signficant boost to your own rather than a roadblock. Seriously, get accomplice; you will never regret it.

Also, if you don't yet have accomplice, save your taunt for when it is needed. It will bring the mob back to you and provide a small window to stabilize. Don't just spam it for the sake of its enmity gain. When you have solidified your hate, then spam away, but use it strategically 'til then.
