I know where you guys are coming from. I spent last night testing out enmity. I have to say I think that someone playing straight glad will not have any luck trying to hold hate on difficult mobs. I had my con buddy go all out while I did my best to hold hate. If your having a hard time and have multiple jobs ranked up, all I can do is make a couple of suggestions to try and tide you over until they begin balancing updates.

    -phalanx II
    -provoke II
    -taunt II
    -disorient II
    -intimidation (trait)
-second wind II (or your preferred self cure method, just chose second wind as the most common because it takes no MP and no longer takes 3/4 and action bar)
With staggered use of the above abilities I was able to find a comfortable grasp on emnity. It seemed to me when I spammed multiple enmity abilities back to back it was wasted. So I would recommend 7-15 seconds between enmity abilities. Until the rebalancing I would also recommend not trying any dungeons/nm's for rank 50's without a gladiator with all the above abilities... Warmonger and war drum also help. I agree that it is pretty lame someone that leveled straight gladiator is now more than likely an ineffective tank. Also it would be helpful to party with DD's capable of or willing to pull their punches and or off tank when appropriate (I'm talking to pug and MRD)

As usual this is just my perception. My intention is not to criticize anyone's ability, strategy, or opinion. Full disclosure; I have yet to succeed at the 45 dungeon myself. (luckily, with the exception of the first attempt, the issue has not been enmity)
