Don't worry she won't cast heavy on anyone. She will just give you inane errands to steal stuff, sneeze on things and .... oOooo roast chicken!
Awwww.... so cute! XD
but... Annabelle just released. The looks kinda gives a little creepy. lol
kidding tho. It's still adorable! XD
Hi guys! I don't normally post in-progress pictures, but I am just so excited with how my costume is turning out that I have to. :P This is my first project working with wonderflex, and I am absolutely in love with the stuff. Kamui's tutorials have been a HUGE help, although a lot of what you can do with wonderflex is learned through experimentation. I bought two JUMBO sheets and am about halfway through the second sheet! (Actually, I just noticed that you can see the remnants of the sheet in the background...) Granted, almost an entire sheet went toward the harness...
I'm making the SMN AFv2 set. Here's what I'm currently working on... the horn!
I created a pattern for all the pieces, similarly to making a piece of clothing. For the more detailed/raised parts (that are colored gold), I pushed paperclay onto a wonderflex pattern, let it harden overnight, and then put another piece of wonderflex over that. The cool thing about wonderflex is that it stretches when you are heating it, so you can push it into all the little indentations.
"Friendly plastic" (thermoplastic in pellet form) has been great for filling cracks/seams... but the trick to that is heating it up to just the right temperature. If it's too cool, it will be lumpy (because the pellets haven't fully melted), but if you heat it up too much, it will be too stringy, almost like hot glue... If you heat it up just the right amount, it will feel and function like clay, and can be easily spread and smoothed out.
As for the horn... that was tricky, because it's such a complex shape that I couldn't have made it out of wonderflex to start. I needed to form the shape out of clay first. But... even paperclay is REALLY heavy in large quantities. So, I would have to hollow it out. When making this 'model', I knew I would be covering it in wonderflex, so that's why all those cracks are there (I didn't care to smooth them out)...
I then covered the clay model in cellophane, and slowly put strips of wonderflex on top of that, pushing the edges together to form an almost seamless seal. I found that heating the wonderflex to the point where it is nearly burning your skin is a great way to smooth out bumps... but, it hurts. After the wonderflex cooled down, I carefully pulled all of the clay out of the base of the horn. I had to leave some of it near the tip, though, because I just couldn't reach. Pulling out 80% of the clay really reduced the weight, though.
Anyway, thanks for looking/reading. Sorry... I'm just so excited! Here's a picture of it on my head... Don't mind how sleepy I look. I work a full-time job, then I come home and work on this all night. I'm tired and it's 1am.
I still have the detailing on the robe, and a lot of stuff to add on the book... but besides that and painting the horn, I am almost done. I'll be painting tomorrow! Can't wait to see you all in a week!!!

Hey guys! Long time no see :> I really love all of your guys' cosplays! I am so hyped to see you guys next week!!!!! Sadly I don't have full body pictures of my Vaan cosplay YET... I don't know if I'll be able to get to them taken before the fest. I'm supposed to finish one part of the costume basically at the hotel on the day of the fest. I kinda want it to be a surprise too! But i'll do my best to show you guys how everything is coming together! Here's the progress pics that I've been waiting to show you guys when it ALL was completed. On the first day of the fest (aka Friday and Saturday) I'll be cosplaying as Vaan from his Final Fantasy Tactices Advanced 2 outfit with the pirate shirt and wing insignia or sky pirate theme. Then on Sunday I'll be regular Final Fantasy 12 Vaan. Look for an out of place Vaan at the fest and that will be me!!
So excited to see you guys there!!!
Here's the gloves! In those pictures they don't have straps, but currently I fixed a velcro strap on the wrist.
Here's the back sash pieces! The circular one has little diamond tassels that jingle when I walk :3 Oh the random bits of thought that go into this cosplay xD

Here is the piece that I was wanting to finish for the longest time... The shoes!!! These are probably the most intricate part to the costume. They have gray ribbon straps that are supposed to go and attach to my leg so they look like they are attached like in the game. I'm trying to go where no Vaan cosplayer has gone before with this kind of detail. I finally got the chance to try them on and put them together. They fit perfectly without falling off! I used double sticky scotch craft tape on the ribbon so they can wrap around right. I also used an infinitely better camera to take the photo for the shoes and I feel bad for not taking pictures of everything else with this... (silly 1000 char limit)
Here's the rest of the costume all laid out! It's a very old picture; literally right before I even attempted to make all these other parts like the gloves and shoes...

U would love to know what the name of that red fabric is called. With the holidays just around the corner that would make a cute skirt!Hello! I want to say I really adore peoples costumes I've seen throughout the thread. I want to share the one I will be bringing with me to fanfest:
I sadly cannot bring Thyrus because it's already on the verge of breaking and since I have to fly I can't really take it apart. >: So my prop will just be my moogle plush instead.

All you need to do is edit it and add to the post. If that still works... but awesome!QUOTE=Matter;2497237]Here is the piece that I was wanting to finish for the longest time... The shoes!!! These are probably the most intricate part to the costume.(silly 1000 char limit)

I have always loved wonderflex and used it until I got a sample of worbla and my goodness, had so much fun with it! Excited to see everyone's costumes!
Rushed to get my costume done while battling a cold which I'm trying to get rid of before leaving. It's no fun sewing fur when my eye sight was blurry with tears and runny nose. I did what I could accomplish since I'm not supposed to be running around lol It's not fun putting about 100 eyelets on my spats >.>
