    Crafted Gear from Dungeons

So are crafters being put into the positions where their only purpose is to repair gear?

I was honestly hoping to see more dropped mats or maybe even mats from the GC vendors so crafters would have a new reason to get to 50.

Maybe the gear from the dungeon chests or even the GC vendor gear could be allowed to be upgraded, not using the materia system but actually upgrading and changing the weapon itself. Then maybe adding materia to that Super Limsa Halberd +2 that was just created

I'm only a Goldsmith and Alchemist, but I feel like there are fewer and fewer reasons to have chosen these crafts.

=Siderant: MAKE POTIONS AND ETHERS USEFUL DANGGIT!

back to GS grinding. I might hit 50 today if I'm really lucky

I'm guessing that crafters' roles will be changing drastically with the next few patches. I'm not yet sure of how I feel about it, but time will tell.

It's a complete fail on Yoshi's part, he's making crafters into enchanters with this stupid materia system. Playing a DOL or DOH as a main job was one of the things I was looking to forward most in 14. Now those classes purpose is being completely destroyed which makes me further uninterested if this game ever recovers.

I understand the need for new crafted wares and new mats. It's a solid way to stimulate the economy afterall and also keeps crafters AND gatherers happy. I'd like to see a couple new craftable items come about as well so I do agree with you in those respects. But on the other side of the coin, there's actually not that much gear that is rare/ex in the game as of yet. Also, until they change how high we can rank our classes OR give us a job system, there is ALOT of craftable gears already. So until one of those 2 things happen, there probably won't be a bunch of new recipies for Gear/Weapon crafters.

As to the poor alchemist and culinarians of the world. Between this patch and esp. with the next patch we might all be able to see actual profit for our hard work. Getting rid of the physical level made food make a LOT more sense in game and dungeons/ limited mp/ etc are making remedies and potions far more useful as well.

Lastly, since the Dev team plans on adding Materia Crafting soon, I also think this is causing a holdup in new crafting mats/recipies.

Unfortunately, since most gamers will pick Combat over Crafts, that's what Yoshi and friends are focusing on right now. Crafters and DoL are being ignored atm, but your time will come. I'd say they'll start focusing on you in a couple more patches. Just hang in there.

10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!

Crafters need to stop complaining seriously. Yoshi is focusing 1.19 on crafting. So then I guess combat players should complain when the patch is out /sarcasm

This game has no urgent crafting needs. It needed more fun and crafting is not fun.

You will get your light in 1.19

Edit: If you have done a rank 50 dungeon you would know ethers and potions are useful

what are the players that dont want to deal with crafters for every single thing supposed to do? we want gear but dont want to spend another entire day looknig for a crafter you can trust to make it and then paying them to do so on top of it.

the best solution is to have both options. bosses should drop mats for certain gear and other actual gear already made.
i thought it was already said that crafters/fielders were going to be de-emphasized in comparison to Tanakas idea.

I agree with what you're saying at the bottom. Wasn't it said that all the best gear would be crafted? I'm not against chests and mobs dropping gear, but they should always drop craft-items like cloth, thread, scales or ores that can be made to enhance or create better gear.

Having all good gear Mob drop gear is a cop-out and is only catering to those who have been asking from day one to have it now now now.

Lately all these patches have been marginalizing crafters to the point where they deserve to lash out at least a little bit. Why buy gear when you can get decent gear from NM's? It's crap. Sure crafting can be fun but there are folks who do it to make gil, and to create armour for their friends. But when they can get it for free what's the use of leveling it?

but there are more folks who video game that dont enjoy dealing with crafting like the current crafting community wants. emphasizing crafting to the extent of it being required for the best gear is going to draw folks away from this game. MMO endgamers fight in dungeons for loot not mats, thats just how it is.
im not saying this game is ever going to steal players from any other MMO, but it certainly will not appeal to most non-FFXI players.

whats the use of leveling it? exactly though, the average MMO player does not want to level a craft as monotonous and slow to progress as the FFXIV craft system. im not saying crafting shouldnt exist, but i think in the end its the over all wrong idea to require crafting to allow a player to be geared at their best.

another thing they can do is make actual gear a much smaller drop rate and mats much higher. this would allow for players with bad luck for gear to at least slowly collect the mats and try obtaining it through someone crafting. and if they get their gear just by chance on first drop... then great! some people got kraken clubs on first drop, nothing to complain about there, chance effects everyone.

No, it might not but the game is suffering as it is and crapping over even a minority of players isn't going to help them in the long run. I'm not sure if that's something people generally research when it comes to MMO's but our market wards have been quite full and I don't think it'll be an issue here. You forget.
There are more DoH/L classes than there are combat classes, many people are leveling at least one or more, this isn't like XI where finding a crafter was a pain in the ass. This is a game where a majority of the players are leveling 1+ crafting class, finding a crafter at any time of the day shouldn't be a problem.

With the easy of leveling one anyhow, it most certainly won't be like XI where on your server only 1 person will be able to craft your Vermy.
