Pretty much this:
I don't expect to have chat's, or long ass conversations in a Duty, but saying Hi/Hello and bye/thanks at the end, or w/e are basic manners.
You could macro a "greeting quote".
Is your keyboard a mile away or something?
I'm quite close to 300 Coms right now which is hilarious since i rarely ever Com other people.
Roll need on something in a low dungeon to turn in for seals? You lost my Com. Even if you're the nicest sweetest funniest person The second you hit that button my respect for you is gone.
Are you rude/bossy/impatient? No com
Are you a whiny idiot doing your myth daily and end up getting Ifrit in the Roulette and then throw a hissy fit because the one new person who queued for ifrit is watching the cutscene even though the very fact that it's ifrit means your 20-40 minute roulette run turned into a 3 minute breeze? No com.
If i don't like your name - No com.
Hilarious i know when the time comes to give out the Com (depending on if i had already decided nobody in the group gets me.) I just toss it off at random.
If i'm DPS it goes to DPS. Period. Unless they're terribad. Then it goes to the healer that did the most dps.
If I'm tank, it goes to the other tank. If I'm heals, then it goes to the other heals, or the tank.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Saying hi at the beginning of a dungeon is acknowledging their presence. People view those who don't do this to just be using them for their own means with no regard to the team effort. Granted that what most people are doing in df but it is a social etiquette thing.
My coms go to the person with the best situational awareness.
I don't really have a list of what gets a commendation, but rather stuff that makes me not give one: A healer that lets a tank die because he/she is too busy holying, rolling need on gear you don't need so you can turn it in for seals, equipping gear not meant for your job so you can meet ilvl requirements, stuff like that or general douchebaggery is what keeps me from commending people.
I usually give one based of player skill or communication.
If your a tank and you run off at the beginning of the instance before i can Protect or Stoneskin your not getting it. If your a DPS that knows the job well and is actually making an effort to clear the dungeon then ill toss them a commendation. If your a healer and can keep a tank up while hes trying to speed run Brayflox in Duty Roulette i'd probably give you 2 if i could especially if they are in Darklight gear still.
There was a tank i was running with in Duty Roullette i was running as a dps at the time, he was really terrible with holding aggro even though he was level 50, so i gave him some friendly advice on how to keep aggro on large packs of mobs and he took my advice and used it. At the end of the dungeon i threw him a commendation for not being a jackass like most people act when you try to nicely give them advice.
