I haven't had a seizure in a good 15+ years. That is around half my lifespan. So I am not really concerned about it. My medication pretty much covers the problem anyways. I am on a pretty heavy dose of the generic brand of Neurontin.

I have a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy with my disability. If people don't ask, they have no need to know. I will however usually tell my FC or Guild Leader that I have psychiatric issues, but unless he or she specifically asks what ones, I don't feel obligated to say.

Epileptic. Have had a couple bleed through seizures playing this game but they were minor tremors. Largely due to stressing out. Take zonigran every night.

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

and, please let that stomach issue checked out, I don't know you, it isn't of my concern, but let me tell you, do it.
I don't know, tests way back indicated it wasn't triggered by light. Mostly triggered by lack of sleep actually. Which admittedly, this game can cause. But no worries, I have equally many seizures regardless if I play or not. ^.^

Tummy is going to be checked out too, just the queue for my doctor is longer than the DPS queue ingame atm. x.x

Do you mean just physical illnesses? Because I've known people myself who have mental illnesses which can affect gaming too. I've got an anxiety disorder, me personally it doesn't affect how I play, well very very rarely! From talking with other people online, i.e. someone who's got bi-polar disorder, got a lot of grief from people for how she behaved (irrationally, strange if you know someone who's got BP, you'll know what I mean - my Mum has it too), yet explaining that her illness made her like that, no-one believed her or understood, apart from those who experienced it themselves There' still a lot of stigma and disbelief that people can be "mentally ill" even nowadays Don't mind me, I'm rambling/thinking out loud!

Other people with chronic illnesses may want to hear from each other to feel solidarity in spite of difficulties they might face playing the game.

No need to be so dismissive.

While it shouldn't matter to people without chronic illnesses, or disabilities, it kind of does matter to those of us with them, as we do kind of feel a bit of kinship with others with these problems and are always interested to hear from others with similar issues. So I would like to thank you to keep your opinions to yourself.

I suffer from chronic ear infections and recurrent tumour growth in the middle ear, deafness, vertigo/dizziness as a result.

It has hampered some video games I have played (I have trouble in water zones or fights where I have to move my camera around a lot.) I have a good FC, though.

When I tell them I can literally get sea sick doing Leviathan they laugh with me about it.

My Aunt (54) has Epilepsy and Spastic Hemiplegia (sp?) which makes her hand pretty weak. She has trouble communicating with players via typing, so I have to do that for her sometimes. Shes on teamspeak and shes trying to type to someone in game, and it goes something like this:

'Can you type this for me?' 'What? Can you repeat that?' Ad infinitum. All comical like.

I understand a lot of people fear having their ailments common knowledge and there are a few people who will go out of their way to make trouble with you because of it.

I deal with it with laughter, Its part of who I am now and If people are going to be a-holish about it then I will ignore them and get on with my life, and make jokes with the people who understand and are kind. That is not to say I don't have my down days, but good friends/family make it better.

One friend of mine sent me this as a pick me up one day when I had a particulary c**t-tastic tank in a mumble pug group.

When people get down on you for being what you are:

Sorry, but having an illness doesn't give you the right to suppress the opinions of others. It doesn't matter who suffers from what. It's just a game, and besides that; I don't like to define people by their afflictions. I'm sorry if you feel the need to.

No one judging or wishing to be defined by their illness, they're just sharing. Stop trolling, and don't bother responding, you're on ignore.
