Usually the only time Ballad is played in my group is when I, the SMN, needs MP. Please remember you're working with another healer, so Cure 3 is just wasted MP and overcure enmity. (iirc overcure generates 2-3 times more agro then actually healing damage) I spoke to my group's WHM and she says the only time she gets low is when our Monk makes mistakes and dies (we single tank so he's in charge of brainjack and homing missiles). It's all about knowing which spells to use at which times (but then again our WHM and SCH are a bad ass combo, perfect synergy)
Back on track, we run 2 bards but 1 is constantly playing Foes Requiem and the other constantly playing TP song at certain intervals. Our Bard that plays TP song is also incharge of MP song. If I were playing something other then SMN then MP song probably wouldn't be played at all

Each group plays their own way. My group hits way over the dps mark so it doesn't matter how I use my mp. The reason I use cure 3 is because it's an instant top off when it comes to defensive reaction as oppose to medic II. I don't spam it or anything. Otherwise it's just regen > cure I, our sch doesn't spend near as much time healing since I'm the one mostly on top of it. He spends about 70% of the fight in cleric stance. That's why I take up so much ballad. Bards are not really a dps class so much as they are geared to boost and support other party members. That isn't to say they don't put out good damage but they are a dual role. We have no issues on how we clear t8 as we usually one-shot it.

P.S. Not to mention our sch also does one of the towers. XD I'd be short of saying I pretty much solo heal this but he heals in crucial times too so I'm not gonna say that. I.E. during dreads, mines.
